The Calgary Flames have reportedly made Ottawa an offer for Jason Spezza, according to league sources.
Jiri Hudler, Mikael Backlund and Dennis Wideman as well as second- or third-round picks have been mentioned, but Ottawa is looking for a top end top-six forward, a highly-ranked prospect and a No. 1 pick. Spezza also apparently doesn't want to play in Canada anymore and sources say the Flames, Canucks, Oilers and Jets are on his list of teams he doesn't want to be traded to. The Senators wouldn't deal him to Toronto or Montreal, but it's unclear if they are on his radar.

There is some speculation out of Ottawa that Anaheim may be the most logical team for the Senators to trade Jason Spezza to.
The Ducks and Sens have dealt before (Bobby Ryan-Jakob Silfverberg trade) and there seems to be a natural fit between the two teams. Ottawa would likely want more than Nick Bonino, a first round pick and a prospect, which is the rumored package on the table. Don't count the Blues out of the Spezza sweepstakes. They have plenty of good young players to offer and would like a number two pivot behind David Backes. Stay tuned.

Ottawa GM Bryan Murray said he'll try to honor Jason Spezza's trade request.
"I don't want to trade the guy, really, and I know I won't get the value, in all likelihood that I should get for him," Murray said Wednesday. "But I think that Jason feels maybe there's a change that he would like to have happen, and if that's the case we'll try to do what we can." Spezza has a modified no-trade clause, which allows him to list 10 teams he doesn't want to dealt to. Murray said he wants a player back in the deal who can help the Senators right away, so a transaction just involving prospects and draft picks may not be enough get a deal done. Trade talks should heat up heading into the NHL Draft.

Jason Spezza has asked the Ottawa Senators to trade him.
It wasn't so long ago that the Senators were led by Spezza, Dany Heatley, and Daniel Alfredsson and one-by-one, they have left Ottawa on bad terms. Between Spezza, Ryan Kesler, and possibly Joe Thornton, the market for centers is looking very appealing. We could see some blockbuster trades in the days following the end of the Stanley Cup Final.

According to Rogers Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos, the Ottawa Senators are shopping Jason Spezza to Western Conference teams.
He cited independent sources for the report when he tweeted the news on Sunday night. Spezza has only one year left on his contract at $4 million and a cap hit of $7 million. Rumors surrounding his possible trade out of Ottawa have been around since the regular season ended and there's some belief that a deal could be struck before next month's NHL Entry Draft. According to the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch, the St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks have had talks with the Senators about acquiring their captain.

Jason Spezza's future with the Ottawa Senators is uncertain.
"We'll see where we go with him," GM Bryan Murray said in Tuesday's post-mortem media address. His words will add more fuel to the fire that Ottawa may ask Spezza to waive his no-trade clause if they can find a deal for him.

It was the final game of the regular season for the Leafs, who didn't qualify for the playoffs. The Sens play their final game Sunday (in Pittsburgh) but they also won't be in the playoffs. Spezza's goal was his 23rd of the season. Assists went to Erik Karlsson, his 53rd of the season, and Ales Hemsky, his 30th.

Jason Spezza has one year remaining on his seven-year, $49 million contract.
There's a chance that the Senators could explore the possibility of dealing him if he's willing to waive his no-trade clause. If Spezza wants to stay then it could trigger an interesting negotiation process. The Ottawa captain has had some rough patches this season, but he's still managed to produce 22 goals and 65 points in 72 games.

Jason Spezza's two goals and three points were instrumental in helping Ottawa to a 4-1 victory over the Islanders on Tuesday night.
Spezza now has 22 goals and 43 assists in what has been an up-and-down campaign, his first as the Sens' captain. Although the Sens will not make the post-season, Spezza has shown great chemistry with the team's trade deadline acquisition Ales Hemsky, who had a goal and two assists on Tuesday.

Jason Spezza scored his 20th of the season as the Senators eked out a 3-2 win against the Rangers on Saturday night.
Spezza scored what ended up being the game-winning goal in the second period. It's the eighth time in his career he's tallied at least 20 goals. His goal pace (9.4 percent shooting percentage compared to 13.9 percent career rate) is down this year, but Spezza has also contributed in a big-way in the assist department, with 42 on the year. The biggest knock on him this year comes from the minus-25 rating. Mika Zibanejad and Mark Stone got the other goals.
