Spezza tallied a goal -- his first since Dec. 13 -- in Thursday's loss to the Predators. That ended a 10-game stretch in which Spezza failed to find the net, which qualifies as an eternity for a player that has topped the 20-goal mark in his last seven full seasons. With only seven goals at the midway point of his first season in Dallas, Spezza looks poised to fall well below that threshold, which may give the Stars some buyer's remorse over the four-year, $30 million extension they signed the center to back in November.

Spezza contributed an assist while skating just 12:35 in Sunday's loss to the Blackhawks. The recently-extended center remains amid his longest offensive drought of the season at the moment, as he's gone without a goal since Dec. 13 and has picked up only three assists in his nine games since that date. His dwindling shot totals are particularly alarming; he's provided two or fewer attempts in each of his last five contests. It's probably best to stash him on the bench until he starts clicking again on the Stars' second line.

Spezza scored his sixth goal of the season and had an assist in Saturday's win over New Jersey. Spezza now has two goals and five points in his last five games, putting him at 24 points in 29 games on the season. Centering the top line alongside Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, Spezza is on track for a 70-point season in his first year with Dallas. Not known for being a huge goal-scorer, Spezza has still disappointed in that category thus far. We wouldn't be worried though, as Spezza has scored twice in his last five games, meaning he could be starting to catch fire. Keep him rolling.

Spezza signed a four-year, $30 million extension with the Stars on Friday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. Spezza was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July, so the Stars decided to get ahead of a potential bidding role by inking the center to a long-term deal. Though his team has underachieved to this point in his first season in Dallas, Spezza has been as good as advertised, tallying four goals and 14 assists over 20 games.

Spezza is close to signing a multi-year extension with the Stars, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. Spezza certainly fits in and it benefits him to not have to be the star on the team. He's been bounced around the lineup a lot, but if the team gets it together and gets him consistent wingers it's easy to see how his production could increase some. Either way, he's got value in Dallas and being there in the coming seasons with the possibility of continued play centering Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn means he could have value for years to come.

Spezza had an assist and three shots in addition to playing a season low 12:21 in Sunday's loss to Chicago. It wasn't a great game for the team at large as they gave up four third period goals and lost the game, but Spezza continues to be a great play. His 13 assists on the season rank seventh overall in the NHL.

Spezza scored on his only shot in the Stars 2-0 win over the Kings on Thursday. Spezza scored with assists to Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin as coach Lindy Ruff reunited the "Superline." That line getting back together is good news for anyone who owns any of those three players. They all stand to benefit from playing together, even if the team doesn't.

Spezza had an assist and a minus-3 rating in Saturday's loss to San Jose. Spezza followed up his six-game point streak with a four-game slump that was snapped on Saturday. Spezza's production has dipped with the Stars in a funk, leading coach Lindy Ruff to break up the Super Line, leaving Spezza centering the second line with Ales Hemsky and Curtis McKenzie.

Spezza had no points, two shots, and 17:54 of ice time in Saturday's loss to Minnesota. That pointless game ended Spezza's six-game point streak. He's still got strong season totals with his ten assists ranking seventh overall in the NHL.

Spezza sports a five-game, 10-point scoring streak after dishing a goal and adding an assist in Saturday's loss to the Islanders. He has two goals and eight assists on that streak. Unfortunately, he was minus-4 Saturday night which drove down his plus-minus to minus-5 on the season. But right now, we're not too worried about the plus-minus. He's showing that at 31, his skills have not disappeared or deteriorated. And in fact, he appears rejuvenated playing in the south. Use him well.
