Spezza had an assist on Jamie Benn's power play goal during Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Ducks.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza is averaging a point per game, with five goals and four assists through nine games. He's been solid, but his inconsistent ice time is concerning for leagues where that is scored. In the last five games he's been at 16:01 or lower four times.

Spezza buried his fifth goal of the season in Thursday's win over Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza beat Penguins' goalie Marc-Andre Fleury with a snapshot to the high glove, which continued his better than a point per game scoring rate this season. The second overall pick in 2001, Spezza's skill is allowed to flourish in the Stars' wide-open system.

Spezza tallied a power-play assist and a key third-period insurance goal on his only shot in Thursday's win over the Lightning.
EDGE Analysis
After the Bolts cut a 4-1 Dallas lead to 4-3 with two goals in a span of 1:38 in the third, Spezza struck less than two minutes later to help his team salt the game away. With six points (four of them goals) in four games, he's off to a rip-roaring start. Spezza managed only 17 goals last season, but he looks like a good bet to return to 20-plus this year, health permitting.

Spezza opened the scoring Tuesday against Edmonton, then broke a 2-2 tie in the third period and finished off the hat trick with an empty-netter to seal the win.
EDGE Analysis
After posting unimpressive totals of four shots and one assist in two games to start the year, Spezza had a much more active game Tuesday, firing eight pucks on net en route to the big effort. The playmaking center has cleared 60 points in each of his last three full seasons, and health permitting, it should happen again this year even on second-line duty.

Spezza picked up an assist on a deflection goal by captain Jamie Benn in Thursday's season-opening win against Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza sent a shot through traffic towards the net and Benn was able to get a piece of it for the score. In his second season with Dallas, Spezza has been given a gift in the form of Patrick Sharp, who should help out his point total. Spezza's line was quiet Thursday, but he took advantage of 3:10 on the power play. The Avalanche should offer up plenty of scoring opportunities Saturday.

Spezza grabbed an assist and two shots in Tuesday's preseason loss to the Blues.
EDGE Analysis
Spezza was questionable for Tuesday's game and had previously been listed as day-to-day by the team. It sounds like that designation was nothing to worry about, because the team isn't risking the health of their second line center over a preseason game. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Spezza lead all players in points at the World Championship in the Czech Republic, posting six goals and eight assists in 10 games.
Spezza took home a gold medal and no small amount of pride after being a clear leader for Team Canada. His production was incredible and it offers hope for his production next season, with the caveat that Canada was head and shoulders about most of their competition in the tournament.

Spezza picked up two assists in Monday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.
The pair of apples gives the first-year Star 61 points on the year, marking the seventh time he's reached the 60-point plateau in his career. He's been effective starring in a second-line scoring role behind studs Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, despite the fact that his 17 goals are the lowest of his career over a full season.

Spezza had a goal and an assist in Dallas' loss to Calgary on Monday.
Spezza is on pace to fall under the 20-goal mark for the first time since the 2005-06 season -- a season where he scored 19 goals in 68 games. It's the slowest scoring pace of his career. While Dallas is certainly a better team with the 31-year-old center on the roster, his fantasy value has declined with the move to the Central Division.

Spezza scored his 16th goal of the season and had an assist in Saturday's win over the Blackhawks.
A much-needed offensive outburst from Spezza, who had managed just one assist in his last nine games. Since Tyler Seguin has returned, Spezza is no longer playing with Jamie Benn, which could be a potential explanation for his downward trend in production. He remains a strong fantasy option though, as he's skating on the top power-play unit and has managed 55 points in 72 games.
