Spezza picked up an assist on a deflection goal by captain Jamie Benn in Thursday's season-opening win against Pittsburgh.

Spezza sent a shot through traffic towards the net and Benn was able to get a piece of it for the score. In his second season with Dallas, Spezza has been given a gift in the form of Patrick Sharp, who should help out his point total. Spezza's line was quiet Thursday, but he took advantage of 3:10 on the power play. The Avalanche should offer up plenty of scoring opportunities Saturday.
