Jagr left Tuesday's game against the Penguins in the second period with an apparent head injury and will not return, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports. Jagr was one of three Devils forwards (Patrik Elias, Stephen Gionta) to leave the game with an injury, with his looking like the most serious of the three. The injury occurred when he was struck in the head and into the end boards by the Penguins' Robert Bortuzzo, who could face a suspension for the hit. Jagr had previously dealt with a nasty cold in the morning, so the injury only further complicates matters. Consider him questionable for Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs until the team updates his condition.

Jagr scored his fourth goal of the season and added an assist in Friday's win over Detroit. Jagr now has 15 points in 23 games this season, to go with an even plus-minus rating. At 42 years of age, Jagr still remains a valuable fantasy option, as he is on track to reach the 50-point plateau for the 20th time in his career.

Jagr picked up a pair of assists -- one a power-play empty-netter -- in Tuesday's win over the Devils. Hey, cheap power-play points are still power-play points. With three goals and nine assists in 12 games, Jagr's a smidge off last year's pace, but he's been warming up lately, having notched four points in his last four contests.

Jagr aided the Devils to an overtime victory over the Senators on Saturday, notching his second marker of the season with 1:21 remaining in the extra period. It was the NHL-record 125th game-winning goal for Jagr, who continues to defy expectations at age 42. He's contributed six points in eight games and figures to finish among the Devils' scoring leaders again in 2014-15.

Jagr scored his first goal of the year on a first-period power play and also assisted on Adam Henrique's power-play goal in Tuesday's overtime loss to the Rangers. While these represent Jagr's first power-play points of the season, which is promising, he again took precious few shots on goal (two). Jagr hasn't taken more than two shots in a game yet this year -- an unexpected development for a guy who put 231 pucks on net last season. Despite that, the 42-year-old certainly doesn't look like he's feeling his age out there on the ice.

Jagr assisted on goals by Michael Ryder and Michael Cammalleri in Thursday's win over the Flyers. That pair of points unties him with Steve Yzerman, giving him sixth place all by himself on the all-time scoring list. Jagr could very easily propel himself up a couple spots this year -- his 1,757 points are just 41 short of fourth-place Ron Francis's 1,798. After the 67-point season Jagr delivered last year, that seems well in reach even though he'll turn 43 during the season.

New Jersey bench boss Pete DeBoer spoke very highly of Jaromir Jagr for his play during the 20131-14 season. "On the hockey rink he's as good as I've ever seen," DeBoer said. "He's maybe the best puck possession player of all time. You talk about (Wayne) Gretzky and what he was able to do with his playmaking ability and (Mario) Lemieux with his package of size and speed and skill. For me this is the best puck possession player of all time." Jagr led the Devils in scoring during the regular season with 67 points in 82 games. He signed a one-year contract last month to remain in New Jersey.

Jaromir Jagr announced his retirement on Sunday, but only from international play with the Czech Republic. It's difficult to imagine the future Hall of Famer doing more for his country than Jagr has over his lengthy career. Just ask players like Tomas Hertl if he's had an impact in growing the sport there.

Jaromir Jagr didn't have a desire to test the unrestricted free agent market. "Two things could happen with free agency: Maybe there would be more teams (interested) and I would get more money," Jagr said. "But if I'm happy somewhere, there's no reason to change." Jagr had a great season with the Devils and enjoyed his time there despite the fact that they missed the playoffs. On top of that, he was probably looking forward to staying in one place after jumping from team to team for a few years.

Jaromir Jagr's one-year deal for the 2014-15 campaign will come with a $3.5 million base salary. Jagr could earn up to $5.5 million if he activates his performance bonuses by playing in enough games. He was able to play in all 82 contests in 2013-14, but there's a chance that the Devils might choose to rest him more often as he slowly approaches his mid-40s.
