McCann was demoted to the minors Monday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCann's reassignment was a required roster move after Nick Bjugstad (hand) was activated off injured reserve. In his 17 appearances this season, McCann snagged a mere three points and 21 shots on goal while averaging just 10:07 of ice time per night. Barring additional injuries, the Panthers will likely keep the 20-year-old with AHL Springfield in order to give him time to further develop his game. At this point, McCann has probably not shown enough to warrant stashing him on your roster except perhaps in deeper dynasty leagues.

Despite playing in all eight games this season, McCann has yet to record a point.
EDGE Analysis
McCann managed 18 points in 69 games with the Canucks as a rookie last year but has yet to find the scoresheet with his new club in South Florida. His 9:53 of average ice time is well short of last season's 12:31 mark, which is undoubtedly cutting into his opportunities to produce.

The Canucks traded McCann, a 2016 second-round pick and a 2016 fourth-round pick in exchange for Erik Gudbranson and a 2016 fifth-round pick Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Canucks were in desperate need of a tough big-bodied defender, and were willing to part with one of their more promising young forwards in order to acquire him. McCann tallied 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in a bottom-six role over 69 games with Vancouver last season, but he's only 19-years-old, and has the potential to develop into a solid top-six forward for the Panthers. The Ontario native was hampered by an undisclosed ailment at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, but there's no indication that injury will prevent him from being ready for next season's training camp.

McCann (upper body) is projected to miss Saturday's game against the Oilers, Kevin Woodley of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCann wasn't listed in the expected line combinations Saturday, which leads us to believe that his 2015-16 campaign is officially in the books. The Canucks are being rather mum about the rookie's injury, but at least we know it concerns his upper body -- the ailment was initially described as undisclosed. Barring an unexpected return Saturday, McCann will finish with nine goals and nine assists in 69 games. Vancouver's first-round (24th overall) draft selection from 2014, McCann boasts an impressive all-around game and even got a small sampling of what it's like to be on the man advantage this year. He could fully break out with another year of experience under his belt.

McCann (undisclosed) will not play Thursday night.
EDGE Analysis
There's no word as to what type of injury McCann is dealing with, and it's especially curious given that he logged 13:53 in Wednesday's game at Edmonton, and that's more than his season average. At any rate, the Canucks plan to call up Ronalds Kenins as an emergency recall with McCann unavailable.

McCann netted the game-winning goal in Monday's tilt against the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
McCann broke a 2-2 tie with just 33 seconds left in the middle frame, and neither side was able to find twine over the final 20 minutes. The rookie had been held off the scoresheet entirely in the previous nine games, but he's shown some promise and should be worth a look going forward as he continues to gain more NHL experience.

McCann potted a goal in Monday's loss to the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
McCann's tally came with just over 11 minutes left, but it was essential a garbage-time goal as the Canucks were already down by five. The 19-year-old still managed to have a productive outing though, finishing with a plus-2 rating while rifling off three shots on net -- tied for his most in a single game since Jan. 17.

McCann will center a top line that features Daniel Sedin and Jannik Hansen on Tuesday night for a road game against the Rangers, Ben Kuzma of The Province reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCann will take the spot previously occupied by Henrik Sedin, who is expected to be out through the All-Star break (Jan. 30-31). Known as an intelligent, two-way player, McCann appears to be up for the challenge ahead. "I'm probably going up against their best line and I'm going to take it as a challenge, and I always like a challenge, so it's nice." McCann said Monday. "I'm a competitive guy and I want to play every night, and I want to make the most of it."

McCann is not expected to join Team Canada for the World Junior Championship, although a final decision won't be made until later in the week, Jon Abbott of TSN 1040 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fellow teammate Jake Virtanen was loaned to Team Canada on Sunday, but the Canucks seem to be more hesitant on temporarily parting ways with McCann who's playing on the second line. The World Junior Championship runs from Dec. 26 through Jan. 5.

McCann collected his first NHL assist in Wednesday's loss to the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
McCann has racked up five goals and six points in 11 games this season. The 19-year-old will be sticking with the Canucks this season and has all the making of a fantasy stud. His fantasy value is currently limited due to his fourth-line role and lack of power-play time, but McCann was a 34-goal-scorer in the OHL who will still be able to light the lamp with the Canucks this season despite seeing limited minutes.
