McCabe signed a three-year, $4.8 million contract extension with the Sabres on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe was a solid defender for the Sabres last season, notching 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) with a plus-6 rating over 77 games. The former Wisconsin Badgers captain will likely slot into a top-four role with the Sabres in 2016-17, but won't be a great option in most fantasy leagues due to his lack of offensive upside.

McCabe found the back of the net in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
The tally was the first for the defenseman since Dec. 17. He also came up with two blocks, four hits, and finished with a rating of plus-2. McCabe has just 14 points this season, meaning that he's not on the fantasy radar, even in deeper formats.

McCabe left Thursday's game against the Flames after blocking a shot, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe blocked a shot with his foot and came off the ice straight to the locker room for his second-straight game. The former Wisconsin Badger has picked up his play of late, but has 11 points in 59 games this season with a minus-4 rating.

McCabe was handed a game misconduct Thursday against the Flyers, ending his night prematurely.
EDGE Analysis
Though he got kicked out of the game, McCabe played the hero, jumping Radko Gudas in a fight after teammate Dan Catenacci received a hit to the head. McCabe was assessed an instigator minor, fighting major and game misconduct for a total of 17 penalty minutes. He played 12:39 and scored an assist up to that point before leaving at 16:27 of the third period. McCabe will not be subject to further discipline and will likely dress for the Sabres' next game. The promising rookie defenseman has 10 points in 50 games this season and could be a good sleeper pick for fantasy owners next season.

McCabe will draw into the lineup Friday against Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe did not play in the Sabres' previous game but will draw in with Josh Gorges (undisclosed) out with an injury. He'll slot into the second pairing with Cody Franson and attempt to get back on track with his play tailing off a little recently.

McCabe is probable for Tuesday's game against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe exited Sunday's game with a lower-body injury but was a full participant at practice and is "probable" against Minnesota. The former Wisconsin Badger captain has emerged as a top-four defenseman for the Sabres this season and will likely play his usual 18-20 minutes per game. Minnesota's a tough opponent so it's unlikely McCabe adds to his point total. He has eight points through 39 games this season.

McCabe didn't play in the last 9:40 of Sunday's game against the Jets due to a lower-body injury, Mike Harrington of Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear exactly what caused McCabe's injury, but the team didn't provide any further update on his status following the contest. If he's unable to dress for Tuesday's game against the Wild, expect either Mike Weber or Mark Pysyk to draw back in.

McCabe scored a goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 3-0 win over Anaheim.
EDGE Analysis
The tally was the young blueliner's first since Oct. 27, and he recorded just two helpers in the lengthy interim. In fact, McCabe hadn't even exceeded one shot on goal in a game since Nov. 25, further highlighting how rare outings like this have been. As a former second-round pick who's shown some offensive ability both in college and at the AHL level, McCabe does still have offensive upside, but the 22-year-old isn't playing the sort of minutes that'll help him realize it in the near term.
