McCabe (shoulder) told reporters he was back to 100 percent and was ready for Thursday's matchup against Montreal, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe isn't exactly an offensive powerhouse -- just 20 points in 76 outings last year -- but his ability to move the puck and physical style of play make him a critical piece of the Sabres' blue line. With the 23-year-old ready to suit up, either Josh Gorges or Victor Antipin will likely end up watching from the press box.

McCabe (shoulder) returned to practice Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
While the team has given no further indication as to if McCabe will be able to suit up for Buffalo's opening game against Montreal, the defenseman's participation in morning skate serves as an excellent sign that he's at least trending in the right direction. Expect an update from the Sabres closer to Thursday's showdown.

McCabe (shoulder) did not partake in Monday's skate and he's questionable for the season opener on Oct. 5 against Montreal.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe continues to be week-to-week with his injury, but he's not expected to be out for very long. There's a slight chance he is available Thursday, but it's a long season and there's no need to rush things. It is slightly concerning, however, that Buffalo's improved depth on defense is already down three players in McCabe, Zach Bogosian (lower body), and Marco Scandella (hip). Victor Antipin, Justin Falk, and Matt Tennyson may get a chance to dress when Buffalo opens the season against Montreal. Despite his top-four potential, McCabe has little value in most fantasy leagues.

Head coach Phil Housley said McCabe has a sore shoulder, the Olean Times Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe is considered week-to-week, and with the season opener on Oct. 5 just a week away, this certainly puts his status in doubt. The former Wisconsin Badgers captain appeared in 76 games for the Sabres last year and upon returning will likely play a third-pairing role. Considering how deep Buffalo's blue line is this year, McCabe is an afterthought in most fantasy leagues despite his ability to provide some scoring and peripheral stats.

McCabe is considered week-to-week due to an upper-body injury, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550reports.
EDGE Analysis
With less than two weeks until the Sabres' Opening Night clash with Montreal, McCabe being designated as week-to-week will no doubt be a concern for fantasy owners. The blueliner saw action in 76 outings for Buffalo last season in which he tallied 20 points, 73 hits and 114 blocks.

McCabe (undisclosed) was not on the ice for Monday's skate, Amy Moritz of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
There was no reason given for McCabe's unexpected absence, and Victor Antipin stepped into the third pairing next to Josh Gorges. McCabe's been a fixture on the Buffalo blue line for the past two seasons, scoring 34 points in 153 games, but he was benched late in the 2016-17 season for careless play. He gets a fresh start under new head coach Phil Housley, but he's also in an intense camp battle for a roster spot on a crowded blue line. In all likelihood, given McCabe's past production and experience, he'll begin the season on the third pairing or as a seventh defenseman. He needs to clear waivers if he's sent down to Rochester and the Sabres won't want to risk losing him for nothing. Consider McCabe day-to-day until further notice.

McCabe is projected to be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's home game against the Canadiens, The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sabres coach Dan Blysma explained his reasoning for McCabe riding the pine. "He's made a few gaffes with the puck in costly situations, costly areas," Bylsma said. "He's kind of gotten into a bit of a hole as a result of it and lost a little confidence with his puck play, and we've seen that the last couple games." McCabe's inability to control the puck contributed to a minus-12 rating over 15 games since the beginning of March. At most, he'll have two more chances to redeem himself this season.

McCabe recorded a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
He now has exactly one multi-point game this season, as McCabe's rather significant role on the Sabres' blue line hasn't added up to much offense; the 23-year-old has just two goals and 12 assists through 58 games. That sort of production certainly won't have fantasy owners banging down the door for his services.

McCabe (shoulder) will return to Buffalo's lineup for Saturday's game against the Senators, Bill Hoppe of the Oleans Time Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe's return to the lineup will bolster Buffalo's defensive unit, but won't mean much to fantasy owners, as his limited offensive production -- 10 points in 45 games this season -- keeps him from being a practical option in most formats. The American blueliner is expected to slot into a bottom-pairing role for Saturday's contest.

McCabe is rehabbing his shoulder and will be out of the lineup for another 10-14 days, WGR 550 reports.
EDGE Analysis
That means McCabe, who injured his shoulder Friday against Detroit, will certainly miss Tuesday's against Nashville and Thursday game against Dallas. The sophomore defenseman has scored 10 points in 45 games this season and become a key part of the Sabres defense, averaging 21 minutes per game and playing on the second power-play unit. The former Wisconsin Badger is a two-way defenseman and part of the Sabres' long-term plans. His fantasy value is still minimal this early in his career, but certainly has a promising future ahead of him.
