Markstrom was absent from Saturday's practice due to the flu.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom can be considered day-to-day ahead of Sunday's home contest against the Sharks. The Swede's had trouble against divisional foes of late, as he took 5-2 losses against the Wild on Feb. 15 and the Flames four days later. It's too early to tell if Markstrom or Ryan Miller will make the next start for the Canucks.

Markstrom gave up five goals on 33 shots in Friday's loss to Calgary.
EDGE Analysis
Not a very good night for Markstrom, who has now given up five goals in each o his last two appearances. The former Panther still owns a 9-7-4 record on the season with 9.17 save percentage, but the Canucks are struggling, so don't expect an abundance of wins. The 26-year-old has shown us this year he's better than what we've seen from him in his past two starts, so look for Markstrom to get back on track when he gets the call next.

Markstrom will defend the blue paint Friday against the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
Considering Ryan Miller received the start in the first game of a back-to-back set Thursday, it's not a huge surprise he gets the night off in favor of Markstrom on Friday. The Canucks backup has fared relatively well in his role this season (2.44 GAA and .921 save percentage in 21 appearances), but the 26-year-old Swede faces a tough matchup Friday against a Flames club tied for fourth in scoring (3.25 goals per game) on the month.

Markstrom allowed five goals on 34 shots in Monday's loss to the Wild.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom carried a four-game winning streak coming into Monday's tilt, but he ran up against a reenergized Wild squad playing their first game under interim coach John Torchetti. The 26-year-old has mostly proven to be reliable as Ryan Miller's backup, but he doesn't figure to see consistent playing time down the stretch of the season.

Marksrom will start Monday's tilt against the Wild.
EDGE Analysis
Looking to follow up a strong outing last Tuesday against the Avalanche (29 saves on 30 shots), Markstrom will give primary netminder another night off Monday. He stopped all five shots he faced against the Wild over a period of work in relief earlier this season, but will get a shot as the starter This time around. He'll square off against a team playing their first game since firing the head coach, with the Wild entering Monday on an eight-game losing streak.

Markstrom stopped 29 of 30 shots and recorded a rare assist in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom has won five of his last six games, including four straight. While he may not be taking over starting duties anytime soon, he continues to perform well in his backup role. Whenever he's starting, Markstrom is definitely worth a look.

Markstrom denied 28 of 30 shots during Thursday's 4-2 victory in Boston.
EDGE Analysis
After Ryan Miller got to make three starts in four games, acquitting himself well, the Canucks turned back to Markstrom, and he didn't miss a beat in continuing his recent run of success. Dating back to mid-December, Markstrom's gone 7-3-1 while stopping 328 of 352 shots -- a .932 save mark. Despite the fact that he has far better numbers than Miller, Markstrom seems to be stuck in a 50-50 timeshare at best.

Markstrom has been given the starting nod on the road against the Bruins on Thursday night.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom has gone against the grain this season, putting up his best numbers away from Vancouver. The 25-year-old Swede has posted a 2.61 GAA at home but that number shrinks to 2.11 on the road. Proceed with caution if you believe that past performance is indicative of future results -- So far, Markstrom's worst start this season came against the Bruins on Dec. 5 when he let in four even-strength goals on 22 shots.
