Eichel scored a power-play goal on two shots in a 3-2 shootout loss to Arizona on Monday.

Eichel celebrated his 22nd birthday by opening the scoring with a howitzer of a wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle three-and-a-half minutes into the first period. It was the seventh goal of the season (fourth on the PP) for Eichel, who now has a team-leading 17 points through 13 games.

Eichel recorded two assists (one on the power play) in Friday's 2-0 win over the Red Wings.

The star center had a hand in both goals in the contest, using his slick hands to provide secondary helpers for Jake McCabe and Sam Reinhart. Eichel is up to 16 points (six tallies, 10 assists) in 12 games this year, while firing 41 shots on goal. He has produced eight power-play points.

Eichel scored two goals, including the overtime winner, and two assists in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Sharks.

His first goal got the Sabres on the board in the second period on the power play, and he helped set up Sam Reinhart and Jeff Skinner in between his own tallies. Eichel has been running hot or cold to begin the season with five scoreless efforts and four multi-point performances through 10 games, but his five goals and 12 points in total have kept fantasy GMs with season-long shares in the 22-year-old very happy.

Eichel netted a goal and posted four shots in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Ducks.

Eichel did it himself, scoring an unassisted tally at 7:35 of the first period. Unfortunately for the Sabres, the Ducks made quite the comeback. The 22-year-old center has 10 points through seven games this season while adding 26 shots on goal. Six of his points are of the power-play variety.

Eichel tallied a pair of assists -- one on the power play -- in Monday's 4-0 win over Dallas.

Eichel's performance helped the host Sabres remain undefeated in regulation. Buffalo's captain picked up a pair of secondary helpers in Sunday's win over the Stars, one of which came on Victor Olofsson's power-play goal at the 6:27 mark of the second period. "Streaky" seems like the optimal word to describe Eichel's start to the current campaign, as all nine of his points (six coming on Sabres power plays) have come over three games. He's been held without a point in Buffalo's other three contests.

Eichel scored two goals on a game-high eight shots and added two assists in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime win over Montreal.

Both of Eichel's goals, one of which was a power-play tally, came in the second period. He also assisted on Victor Olofsson's power-play goal in the first period and Marcus Johansson's OT winner. It was a monster performance for Eichel, who also went 12-for-21 (57.1 percent) in the faceoff circle and led Buffalo forwards with 21:19 of ice time. He has seven points in his last three games after being held off the scoresheet in the season opener.

After being held off the scoresheet in the Sabres' season opener, it was nice to see Eichel make an impact Saturday against New Jersey. The fact that both his points came on Buffalo power plays will give fantasy owners an extra reason to smile. Eichel also contributed two blocked shots and a takeaway in the win.

Eichel is among 17 players announced Thursday as part of Team USA's roster for the upcoming IIHF World Championship in Slovakia, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

EDGE Analysis

Eichel is a highly competitive sort, so this isn't a surprise since the Sabres have yet to make the playoffs in his young career, so he's probably pining for glory after such a disappointing season for the team, one that saw coach Phil Housley get fired. Eichel, coming off an 82-point season, instantly becomes one of the top forwards for Team Red, White and Blue.

Eichel picked up two assists Saturday in a 7-1 win over Detroit.

EDGE Analysis

Eichel's final line on the season? He scored 28 goals, added 54 assists, delivered 82 points and finished minus-11, all in 77 games. That's a 28 percent increase in production from last season. Eichel also improved his game in the faceoff circle. He wants to be among the league's elite. Another couple seasons and he could be.

Eichel's third-period goal served as his 80th point of the year as his team claimed a 5-2 win over the Senators on Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

Eichel's two-game suspension in March made this tighter than it should have been, but it's a nice feather in his cap to reach the 80-point mark for the first time. He's right on track in his progression and has proven to be every bit the star the Sabres thought they were getting during his first four years in the league.
