Gabriel Landeskog has been held off the scoresheet in his last six games and has only one goal in his last nine.
It has been a tough offensive year for the Avalanche captain with only seven goals and 12 points in 26 games. "I'm not one to use the captaincy as an excuse for how I've been playing," Landeskog said. "There have been more things to divide my focus upon, off the ice, more responsibility, a little more pressure of being a go-to guy, but for me, it hasn't been an excuse - at all. But it's easier to take (losing) personally than if I didn't have the C," he said, referring to the captain's insignia. "Again, I don't want to blame anything on the C. I've enjoyed having it, and I have learned a lot. If anything, I have realized you can get too snowed in on the captaincy, instead of being yourself. It's hard when the team isn't doing well. It's been hard to know what to do, and when to do it. I knew from Day One I wasn't going to be a perfect captain, but I believe I can still be a good one." Look for a big comeback next season from the talented Landeskog.

Gabriel Landeskog scored a goal in Colorado's 4-3 loss to Calgary.
Landeskog has now found the back of the net in five of his last six games. He missed a good chunk of the shortened season due to a concussion and endured a bit of a cold streak upon his return. Still, he should remain hot in April.

Gabriel Landeskog had a goal disallowed on Tuesday over a crease violation.
"I felt like I jumped out of the way, out of the crease," Landeskog said. "But (the referee) has a better look at it than I did. It's unfortunate. If we get one there, it's a different game." Colorado was already down 3-0 in the third period when it happened, so the ruling probably didn't change the course of the game. However, Landeskog has just one point in six games this month, so he could have probably used the morale boost.

Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog will embark on his first major locker-room challenge as the NHL's youngest captain Saturday when Ryan O'Reilly rejoins the Avalanche 19 games into a lockout-shortened season.
Landeskog needs to make sure there is no lingering resentment among teammates concerning O'Reilly's contract holdout. "I'm ready to handle that and I know we have a lot of veteran guys in here that have been through the same thing," Landeskog, 20, said of O'Reilly's return. "We're ready to handle that as a group, handle that the mature way. I understand if guys would be bitter about that. But I think all I care about, and most of the guys in here care about, is this logo, and he's going to help our team. It doesn't matter, to me, how much he's making. He's going to help our team. That's the bottom line."

Gabriel Landeskog enjoyed a three-point night in Colorado's 5-4 come-back victory over the Flames on Thursday.
The Avalanche had quite the day. Not only will one of their best players, Ryan O'Reilly, be returning in the near future, they also overcame a 3-0, first-period deficit. Colorado has needed Landeskog to be more engaged, and that's what he was on Thursday with a goal and two helpers, for his fifth point of the season. Matt Duchene, Paul Stastny and David Jones all had a goal and an assist apiece. Ryan O'Byrne potted the other goal, while P.A. Parenteau helped out with two assists.

Gabriel Landeskog will face Brad Stuart of the San Jose Sharks for the first time Tuesday since Stuart's hit to the head of Landeskog a month ago.
Landeskog returned to action on Saturday after missing 11 games with the injury. "I'm treating it just like any other game," Landeskog said. "It's a game we need to win, and I'm just concerned with us getting two points." We shall see as we will not be surprised if there are some fireworks at some point in the game.
