Frederik Andersen (head) practiced Friday and is getting closer to returning to the lineup. "I think I'm getting closer," he said. "It's just a matter of how I feel on the ice positioning-wise and how I see the puck too. That's coming back pretty good." Andersen got hit in the mask with a slap shot from Nashville's Shea Weber on April 4 and he hasn't been able to play since. He could be ready to play as soon as Saturday, which would give the Ducks three potentially healthy goaltenders on their roster.

The good news is that strong Anaheim Ducks backup Frederik Andersen was able to take shots in practice on Tuesday. Even so, he's not ready to go yet. Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau provided a vague timeline of Andersen possibly only missing a few more times to a week-plus. At this point it's best just to play it by ear, then.

Frederik Andersen turned aside 30 of 32 shots in Anaheim's 3-2 win over Edmonton Wednesday night. It was Andersen's third straight start and third straight win. He now has a fantastic 19-5-0 record with a 2.27 goals-against average and .925 save percentage. The rookie goalie has been very good this season and Jonas Hiller should be careful, because Andersen could be the number one goalie in Anaheim soon.

Frederik Andersen was nearly perfect Saturday night, giving up one goal on 32 shots in the Ducks' 5-1 thrashing of the Canucks. Though the 24-year-old has come back to Earth after a scorching start, Andersen has shown that he deserves more time between the pipes. Of course, it doesn't help this season that Jonas Hiller is around. Andersen has a 2.20 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.
