Andersen (upper body) was formally activated from injured reserve Friday.
Andersen has been sidelined since Feb. 8 with the injury, and though he's now healthy, the Ducks will ease him back into action by having him serve as the backup to John Gibson for Friday's game against the Kings. Prior to suffering the injury, Andersen seemed to be enjoying strong job security, so expect him to ultimately take the reins as the Ducks' primary netminder. His next start will likely come Sunday in Dallas.

With fellow goaltender Jason LaBarbera demoted to AHL Norfolk on Friday, it can be assumed that Andersen (upper body) is healthy enough to at least serve as an emergency backup in Friday's game against the Kings, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Given that he's apparently at or close to full health, Andersen could very well start either Friday's game against the Kings or Sunday's game against the Stars. He hasn't played in a game since Feb. 8.

Andersen (upper body) is expected to join the Ducks on their road trip that begins Sunday in Dallas, Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times reports.
That would seem to suggest that Andersen won't be ready to go for Friday's home date with the Kings, but in any case, it's clear the goalie is closing in on a return. He's been able to face shots the last couple of days and has noted that he's no longer experiencing much pain. After a couple more days to get back up to game speed, Andersen could be activated from IR and start one or both of the games on the road trip.

Andersen was able to face shots at Wednesday's morning skate, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Andersen will not be available for Wednesday's game against the Senators, but he seems to be building momentum toward a return in the near future. Coach Bruce Boudreau noted that no particular date for Andersen's return has been specified yet, but that could change if the goalie is able to practice again over the next couple of days.

Andersen (upper body) did not suffer a setback, he he still is not traveling with the Ducks for Friday's game in Calgary, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.Andersen also figures to miss Saturday's game in Edmonton, leaving Monday against the Red Wings as his best-case scenario for a return. While Andersen was previously expected to travel with his teammates, the goaltender reportedly didn't suffer any kind of setback. It may just be that the soreness is taking longer than expected to subside.

Ducks' coach Bruce Boudreau stated Thursday that he does not expect Andersen to travel on their upcoming two-game road trip to Alberta, according to Ducks radio color man Dan Wood.Somewhat of a surprise here, as Andersen was initially expected to travel with the team. Coach Bruce Boudreau did not indicate when Andersen might return, but Monday's game against the Red Wings and Wednesday's game against the Senators are both strong possibilities.

Andersen (upper body) is expected to travel with the Ducks on their two-game road trip beginning Friday in Calgary, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.Andersen has faced shots on the ice the last two days of practice, providing optimism that a return might be forthcoming. While it still seems likely that John Gibson would receive the start in goal for Friday's game against the Flames, Andersen may have accumulated enough practice time to make his return to the net the following night in Edmonton. Stay tuned for an update on his condition as the week progresses.

Andersen (upper body) faced shots at Tuesday's practice, Elliott Teaford of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. The goalie acknowledged that it was doubtful he would be ready for Wednesday's game against the Lightning, but he could only be less than a week away from a return. Andersen should get in a full practice soon, during which he'll be able to better test out how much progress he's made with his injury.

Andersen is day-to-day with an upper body injury.
If Andersen is unable to play in Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Ilya Bryzgalov would presumably be in line to draw the team's start in net for that contest.
