Brunnstrom was not going to be with the team in Boston for Friday's game on NBC as he remained in Detroit to be with his wife who is expecting their first child. Brunnstrom stated that it will be a boy. The recall happened Wednesday night when the Red Wings sent Brendan Smith to the minors and he was then sent down on Thursday. Good thing that Grand Rapids is nearby because Brunnstrom does not know if he is coming or going.

We doubt there was much celebrating in the Detroit dressing room after this stinker.

Fabian Brunnstrom has yet to play in a game this season. He has been a healthy scratch for all four of Detroit's game this season. That said, Red Wing coach Mike Babcock still has high hopes for Brunnstrom. "He's in a tough spot, but I'm not very concerned about it," Babcock said. "I've talked with him about it a number of times. He's getting better, working hard; he'll get in a game. I think Brunner is a guy who'll eventually be able to challenge for a top-six spot.
