Fabian Brunnstrom potted two goals for Frolunda to give his SEL team a 3-1 edge over Timra. He had scored just one goal and one assist in 10 previous contests. Brunnstrom returned to Sweden this past summer after struggling to get NHL playing time following his debut season with the Dallas Stars in 2008-09. He appeared in just five games with the Detroit Red Wings last campaign and spent the majority of the previous two years in the minors.

Fabian Brunnstrom has reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Swedish Elite League's Frolunda. "The NHL will always be the goal," Brunnstrom said, according to HockeyExpressen.se. "I will always strive to be as good as possible as a player." Brunnstrom will probably be a star in the Swedish Elite League, but unfortunately he was never able to live up to expectations in the NHL. He has 19 goals and 41 points in 104 career NHL contests.

The Detroit Red Wings are interested in keeping Fabian Brunnstrom for the 2012-13 campaign. Brunnstrom didn't have an impact with the Red Wings this season, but he did score 12 goals and 35 points in 45 contests with AHL Grand Rapids this season. "The last 20 games, he really took a step forward in Grand Rapids," GM Ken Holland said. "We're interested in bringing him back, and we think he's interested. We'll see what happens. But he finished strong in Grand Rapids." Depending on how Detroit's off-season goes, there might be a roster spot open for Brunnstrom to compete for during training camp.

Fabian Brunnstrom was called up from the minors on Saturday January 28.

Fabian Brunnstrom and his wife Sandy became parents on Friday with the birth of their son, Alexander Noah. The future 2029 NHL draft pick (unless the NHL and NHLPA change the draft age in future CBA talks) came in at seven pounds, three ounces. The Brunnstrom's are all doing well and now Fabian will be sent back to Grand Rapids of the AHL to resume playing hockey.

Fabian Brunnstrom will be returned to AHL Grand Rapids soon. Detroit wants to wait until after Brunnstrom's wife has given birth before asking him to pack his bags. Brunnstrom has an assist in five games with Detroit and three points in four AHL contests this season.

Fabian Brunnstrom is expected to play on Wednesday night against Tampa Bay. His wife is due to have a baby any time now, but he says his mind will be on the task at hand. "I'm just trying to focus on the game when I'm here and when I'm at home, I'll focus on that," said Brunnstrom. He is slated to play on a line with Darren Helm and Daniel Cleary.
