Derek Roy is a healthy scratch Saturday night. Roy has nine goals and 36 points this season, but the 30-year-old is pointless over his last nine contests. As a pending unrestricted free agent, it would be logical to assume that Roy will seek a more prominent role elsewhere this offseason.

Derek Roy will be a healthy scratch for Saturday night's game against Nashville. He will give way to Patrick Berglund, who appears good to go after suffering a slight leg injury Thursday night. Roy will be a free agent come July 1st and he will be looking for a gig where he can play a more prominent role on a team. We believe he still has the capability to be a top line player, he just has to find the right situation.

Derek Roy produced a goal and an assist in a 4-3 shootout win over Winnipeg on Saturday afternoon. Roy has picked up a goal and four helpers in his past five games. He was a healthy scratch on Jan. 23 and he has played quite well since getting back into the fold. Brenden Morrow also had a goal and an assist in Saturday's victory. Jaden Schwartz had the Blues' other regulation marker in the match.

Coach Ken Hitchcock has liked Derek Roy's game since the forward was a healthy scratch on Jan. 23 against the New York Rangers. "I think since Derek was not in the lineup, he's really made a great account of himself," Hitchcock said. "He's been a real good player for us. He's been one of our best players on the power play, he's been very competitive and I think he's really answered the bell and had a great attitude. He's really going to take on the responsibility of keeping that line going with 'Sobie' not here." Roy has two assists in his past two games and he received 16:23 of ice time in Saturday's shootout win over Nashville.

Derek Roy will be back in the Blues' lineup Saturday afternoon against the Islanders. He was a healthy scratch Thursday against the Rangers. Roy, who had not scored a goal in 18 games, was being sent a message by St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock. "I expect Derek to get back and be the player that he was when he first came here," Hitchcock said. "His game has dropped off a little bit. He's an important player on our team, but we can't just continue to trot out the same stuff with no change. We need to see him as a better player. He's no different than anybody else. When you sit out, it's because we expect more. You can mask it with just calling it (a numbers game). But at the end of the day, if you want to get back in, you've got to play better." For his part, Roy seems to have received the message. "We've just got to get back to our winning ways and that involves me playing better," said Roy. We expect him to rebound Saturday against The Islanders.

Derek Roy will be a healthy scratch Thursday. Maxim Lapierre, who is returning from injury, will take Roy's spot in the lineup. Roy has one assist in his last six games and he hasn't scored a goal since Dec. 12.

Derek Roy hasn't been getting much ice time lately. He hasn't played more than 14:49 in his last 12 outings and during that time he has contributed just four assists. His average ice time this year has been 13:38 per contest, but he received a season-low 9:47 of playing time last Saturday against Anaheim. He has eight goals and 31 points in 48 games this season.

It turns out that Derek Roy feels well enough to play for the St. Louis Blues against the Dallas Stars on Sunday. He sat out Saturday's win against the Chicago Blackhawks with what was believed to be an illness. He's been on a fairly hot streak lately, so adjust your lineups if you have last-minute options to do so.

Derek Roy certainly wants to play against his former club, the Stars, Sunday night. The big question is will he? Roy has been battling the flu which kept him from playing Saturday night against the Blackhawks. We are sensing Roy will be a game-time decision Sunday.

Derek Roy (undisclosed) is not playing for the Blues on Saturday night. No word on why, but there is speculation among Blues reporters that has the flu. Adam Cracknell will play in his place. Roy has eight goals and and 27 points this season.
