Derek Roy is quietly reestablishing himself as an effective fantasy center, playing at a point-per-game pace in his last 19 games on the Blues' third line. With four goals and 15 assists in his last 19 games, Roy has 27 points through 35 games this season and is showing signs of his younger self who managed 63, 81, 70 and 69 point seasons between 2006-2010 respectively.

Derek Roy picked up a goal and an assist for the Blues in Thursday's 5-1 shellacking of the Islanders. Roy is one of many Blues assigned a good portion of ice time on the roster of this balanced team. In addition to his strong effort, Jay Bouwmeester also recorded a goal and an assist while Brandon Morrow, Magnus Paajarvi and David Backes picked up tallies in the victory.

Derek Roy has proven to be a favourite for coach Ken Hitchcock as he's starting to garner some added responsibility in St. Louis. Roy has six points in six contests, but it's his presence on the power play that's been really eye catching. The Blues have been largely an "offense by committee" team since Hitch has taken over behind the bench, but a few players are starting to distance themselves from the rest of the pack in terms of power play time. During the last six games, Roy has appeared in 55.4 percent of the Blues' man advantage chances, which trails only Alex Steen (62.9) and T.J. Oshie (55.8) in that department. Keep in mind that Roy was once a point-per-game player. He won't achieve those heights in St. Louis, but he could certainly finish with 55-60 points, which would still be a nice point total if you're looking for a cheapo waiver wire pickup. Roy's just 19 percent Yahoo! owned at the moment, but should see that increase as the season progresses.

Derek Roy scored his sixth goal of the season Thursday as the Blues upended Boston in a shootout by a score of 3-2. Roy's role with the Blues has been mainly limited to being a power play specialist, but he remains useful in many leagues. David Backes also netted his ninth goal of the campaign in the shootout win.

Derek Roy practiced on the fourth line Wednesday. Roy has only been averaging 13:26 minutes per contest as it is. "I've just got to keep working," Roy said. "I think I missed a few chances . one in overtime, one 5 on 5 late. Those are chances I have to put away." He's still worth keeping an eye on as he would have a fair amount of fantasy value if he was playing consistently on one of the Blues' top two lines.

Derek Roy took part in his 600th career NHL game on Saturday. Roy marked the occasion with his third goal of the season. He has seven points in nine games, which is impressive when you consider that he's only averaging 13:58 minutes per contest.

Derek Roy had a goal and an assist in St. Louis' 5-3 victory on Saturday. Roy now has two goals and five points in four games this season. The Blues got Roy at the bargain price of $4 million for the 2013-14 campaign and he should serve them well with that "show me" contract.

Derek Roy had a goal and an assist in St. Louis' 7-0 victory on Saturday. It was Roy's first goal and second assist in two games as a member of the Blues. He was a great sleeper pick going into the season as he could end up with over 60 points in 2013-14.

Derek Roy has already developed some chemistry with Chris Stewart during training camp. "It's pretty easy with him," Roy said. "He's a skilled player, knows how to get to the areas, where to shoot the pucks. He's a goal scorer and as a playmaker I've got to find him. Whenever he's around the net I've got to find his stick." Roy went over Stewart's moves and where he wants the puck in the preseason and he did the same with Brenden Morrow after he arrived as a free agent. He is looking to prove himself this season on a one-year contract and the Blues will give him opportunities to succeed. Roy could be worth gambling on this campaign.

The addition of center Derek Roy to the St. Louis roster will add a dimension the team has sorely been lacking. The team's top two center ice players last season were David Backes and Patrik Berglund, neither of whom is best known for his playmaking ability. Adding the shifty Roy to the mix fills an important void for the club. "You've got to mix in a little of both, I think," Roy said. "You can't win a Stanley Cup by just throwing pucks at the net, hoping it hits off a skate and goes in. You've got to make plays. You've got to make plays to get out of your zone, you've got to make plays in the neutral zone, you've got to make plays at the net." We like Roy as a very underrated commodity heading into drafts this fall.
