Craig Anderson turned aside 31 of 33 shots to spark the Ottawa Senators to a 3-2 overtime win over the New York Rangers Wednesday night.
The Sens have tied their opening-round, best-of-seven playoff series against the Rangers at 2-2. Anderson was a major reason. After giving up two goals to the Rangers in the first period, Anderson settled down and was unbeatable the rest of the way. It was Anderson's second successive outstanding game in this series. He was brilliant in the Rangers' 1-0 victory last game.

Craig Anderson blocked 22 shots Monday night, but it wasn't enough as the Ottawa Senators were bested by the New York Rangers in Game 3 of their first-round series, 1-0.
Even though Anderson had the lighter workload (23 shots from the Rangers, 39 for the Senators), he was brilliant in this one, making a number of big-time saves. The goalie ran hot and cold during the regular season, but he's quite capable of stringing together a number of impressive outings like this one. Down 2-1 in the series, Ottawa will need the steady goaltending as the series continues.

Craig Anderson set aside only 27 of 31 shots Thursday night in the Ottawa Senators' 4-2 Game 1 first-round series loss to the New York Rangers.
Anderson has been very hot and cold this season, but it's clear that he'll be the absolute key if the Senators hope to advance. He wasn't very good in this one, but Ottawa's play deep in its own zone wasn't anything to write home about, either. The keeper's playoff record dropped to 3-4 for his career.

Craig Anderson, who is expected to get the start for Ottawa in the club's playoff opener against the New York Rangers on Thursday night, has enjoyed playing in Madison Square Garden.
"It's one of the best arenas in the history of hockey, the history of basketball and ... concerts," said Anderson, who owns a 6-0-0 career record at the world-renowned facility. "I mean it's New York City, it's the central platform for everything. The fans are excited there. They bring energy. The building has a lot of history. When you're walking through the city, you realize how much of an impact that arena has on that city." The Ottawa keeper will have to be incredibly sharp to help his teammates upset the top-seeded Rangers.
