Corey Perry has had a quiet training camp for the Ducks.
The reigning Hart Trophy winner has not been able to click on Anaheim's first line with Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf in the preseason. "The timing's not there right out of the gate," Ryan said. "That's obviously to be expected. But that's what these games are for, to get better each and every night."

Don't expect Corey Perry to flirt with 100 penalty minutes this season.
Perry finished last season with 104 minutes in the sin bin, but had 74 in his first 30 games while managing only 30 in his final 42, including only six minors in the last 20 contests. His scoring took off in the second half of the season as he picked up 30 goals and 56 points in the 42 games. Perry was a fantasy stud last season with 50 goals, 98 points and the aforementioned 104 penalty minutes. While he should approach the offensive numbers once again in 2011-12, his penalty minute total should take a bit of a hit. Perry is worth selecting in the opening round in most fantasy pools.

Corey Perry was surprised to hear his name called when the NHL announced the winner of the Hart Trophy.
The award is given to the most valuable player to his team and Perry was a deserving winner with 50 goals and 98 points as he carried the Ducks to the playoffs with an outstanding late season surge. Perry hugged his parents when he was announced as the winner. "They're what got me here," Perry said. "You didn't know what to expect coming in [and] obviously you hear your name. It surprised me. I've got to give a lot of credit to my teammates. I've got a lot of family and friends here. It's pretty special." Perry beat out Daniel Sedin and Martin St. Louis in winning the Hart.

Corey Perry could become the first player to win the Hart Trophy as a member of the Anaheim Ducks.
Paul Kariya was a finalist in 1997 and so was Teemu Selanne in 1998, but neither of them ended up winning. Fellow Hart finalist Martin St. Louis said he'd vote for Perry because he reached the 50-goal marker and had a tremendous second half. Perry ranked third in the league in total points, but he was the league's only 50-goal scorer this season.

Corey Perry has been selected as the "cover boy" for the 2010-11 NHL Awards.
Perry's remarkable late-season push was noted by the NHL as he was given this honor. When asked about being cover boy, Perry got a chance to bring his family into the picture. "My dad was pretty important and was my coach until I was 11 or 12," Perry said. "He'd throw pucks around in the backyard and teach us things that are the reason why I play as well as I do today." Perry is a nominee for the Hart Trophy as the league MVP.
