MacArthur (upper body) will not play Thursday against Pittsburgh, Gord Wilson of TSN 1200 reports.
EDGE Analysis
MacArthur exited Wednesday's tilt against the Blue Jackets with an upper-body injury and was unable to return to the contest. The nature of the injury remains unclear, as the team is still reportedly evaluating MacArthur. He'll miss Thursday's matchup with the Penguins, and could be held out of additional contests depending on the severity of the ailment. Shane Prince will likely enter the Senators' lineup in MacArthur's absence.

MacArthur (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision Thursday against the Sabres, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
MacArthur has been dealing with an undisclosed injury that forced him to miss practice earlier in the week, and was initially considered doubtful to play in the Senators' Thursday night season opener. It appears his condition has improved marginally, but the team may opt to hold him out until Saturday's matchup with the Maple Leafs to avoid risking further injury. His status will be confirmed prior to puck drop Thursday.

MacArthur (undisclosed) is doubtful for Thursday's regular-season opener against the Sabres, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
MacArthur was absent from Monday's practice, which was the first indication that there may be trouble brewing on the injury front for the 30-year-old winger. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but don't count on MacArthur suiting up Thursday against Buffalo. If he is forced to miss Thursday's contest, his next chance to return to Ottawa's lineup will come Saturday against Toronto.

MacArthur was absent from Monday's practice, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
It isn't clear what kind of ailment MacArthur is dealing with, but it's a bit disconcerting that he's missing practice so close to Thursday's regular-season opener against the Sabres. Ottawa should provide an update on the 30-year-old winger's status in the coming days.

MacArthur netted a goal on the power play in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Canadiens.
EDGE Analysis
MacArthur was minus-6 with 16 goals and 20 assists last season. His campaign was shortened by 20 games in large part to a concussion that sent him to IR for more than a month. MacArthur is a dual threat in the sense that he can score goals and also set up a fair share of them himself. The winger averaged 2:58 on the ice during power-play situations and had six goals and four assists that that man advantage.

MacArthur acknowledged he suffered a hip flexor injury during the postseason series with the Canadiens, TSN.ca reports.
The injury appeared to occur in Game 5, when he left the match prematurely with what the team termed as a "lower-body injury." MacArthur was ultimately able to suit up for Game 6, logging 20:39 of ice time and supplying five shots on goal and seven hits in the series-ending loss. He'll take the next several months off to recuperate from the injury, but should be fully healthy by the time training camp arrives.

MacArthur left Game 5 on Friday early with the lower-body issue, and did not return. However, it appears the injury was minor enough that he'll give it a go as the Senators look to stave off elimination once again.
