Chris Mason has signed on to play with Ritten of Italy's Elite.A League. Mason appeared in 11 games last season as the backup keeper of the Nashville Predators. He was allowed to walk as an unrestricted free agent after earning just one win to go with an .873 save percentage and a 3.73 goals-against average.

The Nashville Predators will almost certainly be looking for a backup goaltender this summer. It looks like the Predators aren't going to re-sign Chris Mason, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in July. "It didn't work out the way we had scripted it when he signed," Predators GM David Poile said. "First of all, we scripted an 82-game schedule with lots of opportunities to play. Then we get into a 48-game schedule, Pekka gets all the games we thought would be designated to Chris, and we had nothing to show for it. We really put him in a bad position and he was unable to do his thing." Mason ended up with a 3.73 GAA and .873 save percentage in 11 games in 2013.

Chris Mason is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Pekka Rinne will be coming off of hip surgery, so the Predators may want to retain the services of a veteran like Mason. However, they could also choose to promote Magnus Hellberg from the minors to serve as Rinne's understudy. Mason didn't look very good when he did play in 2013, so it would make sense if he were let go.

Chris Mason will play between the pipes on Saturday. Nashville has nothing left to play for, so Mason will get back-to-back starts. He has a 3.97 GAA and .852 save percentage in 10 games this season.

Chris Mason admitted that he was rusty on Thursday. Mason allowed five goals on 38 shots in what was just his fifth start of the season. "It's tough. Not really getting frustrated, but you have to be realistic about it. Obviously I would like to be great every game, but when you get in there and you're in situations you haven't been in a long time, it's tough to be at your best," Mason said. "For me personally from the last game to how I felt this game was a lot better. We didn't win, but I look at it as a step in the right direction." He has a 3.97 GAA and .852 save percentage this season.

Chris Mason ceded five goals to the Red Wings on 38 shots Thursday as the Predators were defeated by a score of 5-2. Mason is no longer even one of the league's better backups so it shouldn't be surprising that he struggled against the Red Wings in a game they needed to keep pace in the Western Conference playoff race.

Chris Mason will tend to Nashville's goal on Thursday night versus Detroit. His last appearance came on April 12 in a 5-2 loss to Dallas when he made only 13 saves. Mason has a 1-5-1 record this year to go with an .848 save percentage and a 3.79 GAA.

Chris Mason kicked out just 13 of 18 shots in a 5-2 loss Friday night against the Dallas Stars. Pekka Rinne is not injured, he just got the night off Friday. Mason has actually been pretty good when he's gotten a chance to play this season, but he's not going to get many starts with Rinne around.

Chris Mason kicked out just 12 of 18 shots in a 6-5 loss Monday afternoon. Mason was pulled from the game halfway through the second period in favor of Pekka Rinne. Rinne saved all 10 shots he faced, but at that point it was too late.

Chris Mason will start Monday afternoon. It will be Mason's third start of the season. He's been great when he's gotten a chance to play, but he's not going to get many starts under Pekka Rinne.
