Chris Mason has agreed to a one-year/$1.25 million contract with the Nashville Predators.
The deal also includes bonuses. Mason will serve as Pekka Rinne's understudy and doesn't figure to have any fantasy value in that role.

Chris Mason is hoping that the Winnipeg Jets will re-sign him.
"We're talking right now," Mason said. "I want to come back and be part of this commitment to rebuild." He's comfortable serving as the team's backup goaltender. The Jets acquired the negotiating rights to Jonas Gustavsson on Saturday and it's possible that they might end up using Gustavsson as their backup instead.

Chris Mason was saddled with the loss Thursday night against the New York Islanders.
A year ago, Mason was the ideal veteran netminder to have on board for the Thrahers. At the start of training camp, he was a year removed from leading the Blues into the playoffs, and was solid in the starting role the season prior. Unfortunately, his game fell apart last season with Atlanta, and at age 35 the temptation is to say he's fallen off a cliff. There's only a select few goalies 35-years-old and up who can still hold their own until they get pushed aside. He probably shouldn't be starting on anyone's fantasy roster.

Chris Mason will get the nod for Winnipeg Thursday versus the New York Islanders.
The 35-year-old netminder has been limited to 19 appearances this season with the Jets behind workhorse Ondrej Pavelec. Mason's last start came on Mar. 30 in a 4-3 overtime win over Carolina.

Chris Mason allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Jets' 4-3 shootout win over the Wild Thursday night.
It was a rare start for Mason, who now sports a 7-6-0 record on the season with the win tonight. Ondrej Pavelec got the night off but will be between the pipes Friday night. Mason probably shouldn't be starting on anyone's fantasy roster unless the matchup is perfect. There's only a select few goalies 35-years-old and up who can still hold their own until they get pushed aside.

Chris Mason is slated to be in Winnipeg's crease at Minnesota on Thursday.
He has lost his last three outings, but played well on Feb. 3 in a 2-1 defeat to the Panthers. The Jets play host to the Boston Bruins on Friday night, so Ondrej Pavelec will probably get the call for that contest.

Chris Mason kicked out 28 of 30 shots in a 2-1 loss Friday night.
Mason has now lost four of his last five starts, although he certainly held his own on Friday. He's been a solid backup this season, but he doesn't play enough to make him worth owning in standard fantasy leagues.
