Barker, who was hoping to make a return to the NHL this season, was cut from the Blackhawks camp on Friday. He was there on a tryout, but the Hawks' blue line is relatively solid. He spent last season in the KHL and may be headed back.

Vancouver Canucks place Cam Barker on waivers. Barker was waived earlier today and it's likely his roster spot will be taken by Derek Roy, who the Canucks reportedly acquired in a trade with the Stars. Barker has no fantasy value as a third-pairing defenseman.

Cam Barker has reportedly signed a one-year/$700,000 deal with the Vancouver Canucks. The deal is of course prorated given that this will be a shortened season. Barker had three goals and eight points in 23 contests with the AHL Texas Stars during the lockout. He should serve as a depth or third-pairing defenseman with the Canucks.

Former Oiler defenseman Cam Barker was released by the Texas Stars of the AHL Saturday. He did not show enough to earn a spot on the club's roster. it has been a rapid decline for Barker, who was once thought to be one of the NHL's brightest young rearguards. We doubt he will have any fantasy value again.

Cam Barker has signed on with the Texas Stars of the AHL. Barker played last season in a limited role for the Edmonton Oilers but the Oilers did not give him a qualifying offer, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent. The third overall pick in the 2004 Entry Draft after Alex Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin has been a major disappointment throughout his NHL career and will now try to get it back together in the minors. The defenseman had two goals in only 25 games last season.

Despite the need for a top defenseman, the Edmonton Oilers could be in the market to trade a blueliner. The Oilers have quantity on the blueline with eight capable of playing in the NHL. Cam Barker has been a healthy scratch for the last two games after going minus-eight in his previous five. Theo Peckham could also be available but the Oilers biggest need is a top defenseman and they will not get one unless they deal a top forward like Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Stay tuned as a team picking up either Barker or Peckham is looking for playoff depth.

Cam Barker watched Tuesday's win over Calgary from the press box as a healthy scratch. He has posted a minus-8 rating in his last five games and has struggled to rediscover a groove since returning from ankle surgery. Barker has two goals and no assists in 19 games this year. Corey Potter, who missed last three games with a groin injury, suited up in his place.
