Rust signed a two-year, one-way contract extension with the Penguins on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Rust has turned it on recently, as he's tallied four points in his last five contests. The 23-year-old has missed only one game since being recalled in early January and has logged a considerable number of minutes for Pittsburgh. In March alone, the winger is averaging 13:49 of ice time, over a minute more than his season average. While his fantasy value is limited due to his absence from the power play, Rust plays with speed and determination, something that can't be overlooked on the ice.

Rust recorded a goal and two assists in Sunday's 6-1 victory over the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
It was a monster game for the 23-year-old, who's in his third stint with the Penguins this season. He's jumped back and forth between the AHL and NHL, but seems to have found a nice role on Pittsburgh's third line. He's been up with the team since early January, and appears to have a solid roster spot. Rust has just seven points in 30 games with the big club, but now has four points in his last four games.

Rust was unable to get one past Braden Holtby, despite rifling six shots on net in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat to the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
Although he has tallied only one assist in his last five outings, Rust brings energy and pace to the Penguins' third line, something Pittsburgh will rely on as they push for a wildcard playoff spot. The 23-year-old's ability to get to loose pucks and win battles in the corners hasn't translated into fantasy value, but shows the potential to make an impact is there.

Rust scored his first goal of the season Saturday in a 3-1 win over the Canadiens. It stood up as the game winner.
EDGE Analysis
It was a sweet snipe -- Rust beat Mike Condon top shelf on a breakaway. It was just his second career goal. Rust was recalled this week to try to inject some offence into the Pens' bottom six and it worked. Just don't snag him off the wire just yet. We're pretty sure Rust is headed back to the AHL soon.

Rust was recalled by the Penguins on Thursday, Jenn Menendez of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rust and Tom Kuhnhackl were both recalled by the Penguins on Thursday, an apparent attempt by the team to create an offensive spark by shaking up their depth at forward. Rust has tallied six shots on goal in five games with the Penguins this season, and will likely slot in as a bottom-six forward if he's able to crack Pittsburgh's lineup.

Rust is heading back to AHL Wilkes-Barre Scranton Tuesday to play with the Baby Pens.
EDGE Analysis
Rust has failed to crack the lineup since suffering an arm injury in October. The forward was recalled to fill a roster spot with the injury to Sidney Crosby, but will be headed back to the AHL. In his five games this season, the 23-year-old is yet to register a point.

Rust was recalled by the Penguins on Sunday, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rust was reassigned to the AHL club in late November after failing to record a point in five games with the Penguins, but he will now rejoin the parent club. The move comes on the heels of news that star forward Sidney Crosby is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, so he'll give the club some depth among the ranks.

Rust (arm) is expected to return to AHL action Friday, the Citizen's Voice reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rust was reassigned to AHL Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier in the week, but it appears he's now ready to return to the ice after missing five weeks of action. He'll shake off the rust in the minors and could work his way back up to the parent club eventually.

Rust (arm) has been re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
EDGE Analysis
After injuring his arm against Nashville on Oct. 24, Rust has spent the last 15 games on IR, and will continue his recovery as he returns to the ice in the AHL. Although he was held scoreless in five games with Pittsburgh, there's a chance he's called back up at some point given he gets back to full health.

Rust resumed skating Friday, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Friday marked the first time Rust has skated since suffering a right hand or wrist injury on Oct. 24. He was also able to do some puck handling while on the ice Friday, which is a great sign given the nature of his injury. The 23-year-old winger is now three weeks into the "couple week" recovery timetable he was given on Oct. 27. He will need to return to several full practices before drawing back into the Penguins' lineup, but it appears as though Rust's return to game action is on the horizon.
