Brent Seabrook was impressed with how the Blackhawks stepped up without Duncan Keith.
"We talked about it all season, especially in the playoffs: our team game, team defense is what's been doing such a great job and Crow in the net making big saves," said Seabrook, referring to goaltender Corey Crawford. "When our forwards come back the way they are it makes it easier for us. We're just trying to get back there quick and get outlet passes for our forwards to go with the puck." Seabrook had a plus-one rating, three hits, and three blocked shots in Chicago's 3-2 victory. He also logged a team-high 26:20 minutes of playing time.

Brent Seabrook scored his second goal of the postseason in Chicago's 4-2 win over the Kings Sunday night.
The goal wasn't quite as memorable as his overtime winner in Game 7 against the Red Wings, but a big tally nonetheless. Michal Handzus, Bryan Bickell and Andrew Shaw also found the back of the net for Chicago in the victory while Brandon Saad and Patrick Sharp each picked up a pair of helpers.

Brent Seabrook expects to see more low scoring games in the Blackhawks Western Conference Final against the Kings.
The Blackhawks took a 1-0 series lead on Saturday with their 2-1 win. "They're going to be tight, low scoring games," Seabrook said. "Both teams have highly skilled forwards and defensemen. It's going to be a tight series. Every goal is going to be important and we understand that."

Brent Seabrook sniped the game-winning overtime goal to lead the Blackhawks to the Western Conference final with a 2-1 victory over the Red Wings in Game 7 on Wednesday night.
This game had a little bit of everything -- good and bad. It seemed as if the Blackhawks were on their way to a Game 7 win in regulation because with 1:49 remaining Niklas Hjalmarsson scored. However, matching roughing minors were called on Kyle Quincey and Brand Saad seconds before by the back official, negating the goal in a very controversial way. Patrick Sharp also potted a marker for the Blackhawks, and he now has seven goals and 11 points in 12 playoff games. Michal Handzus and Marian Hossa each notched assists. The Blackhawks will kick off their series with the Kings on Saturday.

Brent Seabrook played 23 minutes for the second straight game Monday night.
The bump in ice time comes after Seabrook played just 12:03 in Game 4 and a little over 17 minutes in Game 3. Perhaps not coincidentally, the Blackhawks have won each of the last two games and have forced a Game 7 after being down 3-1 in the series. "I felt like I did a good job of forgetting about it and getting ready for the next shift," Seabrook said after Monday's 4-3 win.

Brent Seabrook was so bad in the playoffs this season that Chicago coach Joel Quenneville had to reduce his playing time.
In the Hawks 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, however, Seabrook came up big offensively and defensively. "I thought he had a real strong game. His physical presence was noticeable; it was big and set the tone early," Quenneville said. "You've got to commend Seabs. The day before (Game 5) he was excited about the opportunity and prepared himself well." Seabrook couldn't put a finger on what was going wrong for him these playoffs. There was criticism for it, but he said he didn't really notice it that much; his biggest critic is the one he sees in the mirror every day. "I was just pissed at myself, first and foremost," he said. "I knew I had to be better." It probably did not hurt him that Quenneville reunited him with his old defense partner, Duncan Keith. Look for Seabrook and Keith to be paired together again tonight for Game 6 in Detroit.

Veteran defenseman Brent Seabrook is slumping conspicuously in the Chicago Blackhawks' second-round playoff series against the Detroit Red Wings and Joel Quenneville is doing something about it.
The Hawks' coach is cutting Seabrook's playing time. Seabrook's playoff-low 12:03 of ice time in the Hawks' 2-0 loss to the Red Wings Thursday is an alarming number for a player of his caliber - an eight-year veteran in the middle of a five-year, $29 million contract. He averaged 22:00 of ice time in the regular season, second highest on the team behind iron man Duncan Keith. The 12:03 against the Red Wings in Game 4 is the lowest time-on-ice of Seabrook's 658-game NHL career. His previous low was 13:27. He's never played less than 16:00 in a game over the past six seasons. Seabrook has contributed very little offensively and is a minus-4 against the Wings.

Brent Seabrook has yet to garner a point in seven playoff games.
Seabrook is one of only two Blackhawks who have played in every playoff game to be held off the scoresheet as Michal Rozsival also is pointless, but Rozsival is plus-six while Seabrook is struggling with a minus-two rating. Seabrook had eight goals and 20 points in 47 regular season games so his fantasy owners in the playoffs hope a break out game is around the corner.

Brent Seabrook said that the Chicago Blackhawks will keep Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday in perspective.
Chicago and the Red Wings are now tied at one game apiece after the Blackhawks lost at home Saturday. "We're pissed off about this afternoon but at the end of the day it's one game," Seabrook said. "Both teams would be stupid if they thought they'd come in here and either team would win four straight. It's a series. We knew it would be a battle. Obviously over the years of playing these guys, we know it's going to be a hard, tough series. We have to prepare better for Monday."

The Chicago Blackhawks power play went from 21st overall to 16th on the weekend, courtesy of a 4-7 weekend.
Brent Seabrook scored twice on Saturday and both were with the man-advantage, boosting the Blackhawks five spots in NHL rankings. "I liked the power play. We had good motion, good movement," coach Joel Quenneville said. "It's nice to see the finished product. It was definitely a sore point for a stretch of games here, so it's nice to see something come out of it on the power-play side."
