Smith (leg) landed on IR Thursday, according to the NHL's Official Media Page.
EDGE Analysis
Smith and Niklas Kronwall (lower body) were forced out of Wednesday's contest against the Ducks and it appears they have sustained serious ailments as they were both placed on injured reserve the day after. It remains to be seen exactly how long Smith will be out, but he'll have to miss at least seven days, or the Wings' next four games, according to the NHL's injured reserve policy. The 27-year-old blueliner will be eligible to return to action Jan. 14 against the Penguins.

Smith (leg) will miss the final four games of a road trip before he'll be set up for further evaluation, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith and Niklas Kronwall (lower body) were both knocked out of Wednesday's game against the Ducks, as the injury bug keeps hovering around the Winged Wheel. As of Thursday afternoon, neither player was listed on injured reserve, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see these defensemen wind up in that spot if there happens to be more bad news upon their next evaluation. The silver lining in this situation is that Smith probably has lower ownership rates outside of the deepest of leagues considering he's picked up only five points in 24 games this season.

Smith (leg) won't return to Wednesday's matchup with the Ducks.
EDGE Analysis
Smith sustained the injury after getting tangled up with Anaheim's Cam Fowler in the second period of Wednesday's contest, and had to be helped to the Red Wings' locker room while favoring his right leg. The severity of Smith's ailment remains unclear, but at this juncture he should be considered questionable-at-best for Thursday's game against LA.

Smith (knee) said he will return Tuesday night against the Sabres and a spot on the second power-play unit awaits, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith returns from a 13-game injury layoff ready to reclaim his role on the man advantage. While that's good for the defender's psyche, the Red Wings have the weakest power play in the league, so fantasy owners shouldn't be rushing to pluck Smith off the waiver wire. Besides, he has just four points and a minus-3 rating in 20 games.

Smith (knee) could be eligible to return Tuesday or Thursday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has been absent from the lineup since Nov. 26, missing 12 games over that span. When healthy, the defenseman has compiled two goals and a pair of assists in 20 contests. The 27-year-old is averaging 18:01 of ice time per night which includes time on both the power play (1:36) and penalty kill (1:47). One cleared to return, Smith will look to end a five-game pointless streak.

Smith (knee) will miss approximately four weeks, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, the Red Wings have placed Smith on injured reserve, per the NHL's official media site. With that timeline, it's possible we won't see the Ontario native until early 2017. While he hasn't done a whole lot from a fantasy perspective -- four points and a minus-3 rating in 20 games -- Smith had been used modestly on the power play and his size and grit will certainly be missed in the lineup, especially with the team also missing up-and-coming Alexey Marchenko (upper body).

Smith, who left Saturday's game against the Canadiens with a right knee injury, has been scheduled for further evaluation, MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Forward Tyler Bertuzzi was also injured in the contest, with GM Ken Holland weighing in on the situation after the game. "We know they are out a bit," Holland said. "Not sure how long." The Red Wings have been depleted by injuries lately, and the loss of Smith means that there's now only six healthy defensemen on the active roster. Depending on the return timetable for Smith, it might be in the team's best interest to recall a rearguard from AHL Grand Rapids.

Smith left Saturday's contest against the Canadiens with a knee injury and will not return.
EDGE Analysis
Smith's and Phillip Danault's knees collided as the two icemen were wrangling down a puck off the glass. Smith was slow to get up and headed immediately to the locker room to receive medical attention. At this point it's unclear how severe the ailment is and what the return timetable is so consider the 27-year-old blueliner day-to-day for now.

Smith blasted home a one-timer Thursday night in a 3-1 win over Vancouver.
EDGE Analysis
This was a textbook play, as Henrik Zetterberg won a faceoff that slid over to Niklas Kronwall, who promptly dished over to Smith for a slap shot that trickled past Ryan Miller after he initially appeared to have made the save. Smith went the first nine games without a point, but his ice time has risen over the last five, and he now has three points (one goal, two assists) in that span.

Smith notched a goal and an assist in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Panthers, but still finished the night with a minus-2 rating.
EDGE Analysis
While it's encouraging that Smith was involved in both of Detroit's scores on Sunday, the defense got shellacked to the tune of five goals and Smith was on the ice for four of them. Smtih's first points of the season mean nothing to the Red Wings if he can't help prevent goals, so he'll need to step it up if he wants to maintain his ice time with the return of Niklas Kronwall looming.
