Now that the Philadelphia Flyers have locked up Matt Read and Sean Couturier to long-term deals, Brayden Schenn could be next.
The Flyers inked Read on Friday to a four-year deal that will kick in next season and signed Couturier in the summer so Schenn is the next logical piece of the puzzle. Schenn is scheduled to become an RFA at the end of the season and if he has a big year, the Flyers will be forced to pay more. Schenn was drafted fifth overall in 2009 by the Kings and the Flyers dealt Mike Richards in the summer of 2011 for Schenn and Wayne Simmonds. He had an inconsistent 2013 with eight goals and 26 points in 47 games but a lot more is expected this season. Expect a 20-25 goal season with 60 points for Schenn.

The Philadelphia Inquirer ponders the Philadelphia Flyers possibly re-signing Brayden Schenn and Matt Read, much like they already did with Sean Couturier.
Schenn will be a restricted free agent if he doesn't receive a contract extension before the 2013-14 season expires. Schenn set a career-high with 26 points in 2013, and with his first-round pedigree, a breakthrough season isn't out of the question. That's especially true if he has contract year motivation.

Brayden Schenn isn't discouraged by his lack of significant progress in his sophomore season.
"It's been a little inconsistency, but at the same time, I think I've made strides," he said. "I'm still a young player in this league and still learning. The more experience you get, the more you learn from the older players on the team, and it's only going to help you." Schenn had 12 goals and 18 points in 54 games last season and he tallied eight markers and 26 points in 47 contests this past campaign. He did manage to finish third among the team in hits with 109, so he has the potential to develop into a solid rough and tumble forward.

Brayden Schenn scored the opening goal of the game in Philadelphia's 4-2 win over the Rangers Tuesday night.
The marker was his first in his last six contests. During the 2013 season, Schenn has notched eight goals and 24 points in 42 matches. His point total is more than he had last year, but it's still not up to the expectations of his talent.

Brayden Schenn ended a long goalless drought Thursday as the Flyers topped Toronto by a score of 5-3.
The younger Schenn brother counted his seventh goal of the campaign in the second period, ending a stretch of 17 games without a tally. Big brother Luke also scored for the Flyers in the win, as did Jay Rosehill, Simon Gagne and Jakub Voracek.

The Flyers are in dire need of getting their centers on track.
Beyond Claude Giroux, their centers have been struggling, big-time. Danny Briere (13 games), Brayden Schenn (10 games), Sean Couturier (22 games) and center/winger Ruslan Fedotenko (25 games) are all in big goal-scoring droughts. "We need to win games and get going on a roll here before time cuts us short," coach Peter Laviolette said.

Brayden Schenn has gone seven straight games without recording a point.
During that span, he has also posted an abysmal minus-9 rating. Schenn has found the back of the net in 10 consecutive contests as well. He was great for most of February before heading into this tailspin, so there is hope that he can find his way out of it.

Brayden Schenn has developed some chemistry with Jakub Vorcek on the team's third line.
"We have a little chemistry going and know where we're going to be in the offensive zone, and I think it's a big advantage," said Voracek. "Both [of his linemates] are big bodies, and I got a little more room." Schenn and Voracek have been joined by Tye McGinn for two of the past three games. The trio combined for two goals and two assists in Tuesday's win over Winnipeg.
