The Anaheim Ducks are slumping woefully, having lost four consecutive games, including one by the mind-boggling score of 7-2 to the flickering Flames in Calgary Wednesday night. The Ducks' quest for the franchise's first Presidents' Trophy is in danger. The St. Louis Blues have passed them and their once-safe once-safe division lead over the San Jose Sharks has shrunk to two points. "To a man, it's absolutely embarrassing losing 7-2," Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano said. "At the end of the day, our whole team, every man, should be embarrassed." Anaheim's road trip continues on Friday night against the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center. The Avs moved into third place in the conference and second in the Central Division after a 3-2 victory over Chicago on Wednesday night."We have to be better, simply because [Colorado] already beat us 6-1 [in the season opener]," said Cogliano. "They're playing very good hockey."

Andrew Cogliano does not think that it is so bad that St. Louis has taken over first place in the West and that San Jose is pushing them in the Pacific division. The Ducks have been leading the way all season until this past weekend as far as the points race in the NHL is concerned but more importantly, the Sharks are only four points back in the Pacific. The Ducks ran away with their divisional title last season and it made it hard for Anaheim to play in the playoffs. "I think it gets the best out of guys," Cogliano said. "I think it gets more guys in playoff atmosphere because you're fighting for something. You're fighting for first place. You're fighting to put yourself in good position. I feel there's a totally different feel from last year. I think last year this team coasted a bit and knew where we were going. But this year is different."

Andrew Cogliano is happy that he will be an Anaheim Duck for another four seasons. Cogliano inked a four year extension Saturday for a total of $12 million and while he may have been able to get more as an unrestricted free agent, he is pleased with the deal. "The goal for me was to always get an extension," Coigliano said. "The minute (GM) Bob (Murray) made that known to me, I told my agent right away that we're going to get a deal done. It's just a matter of what number, but I told him right away the deal would get done, and it needs to get done. At the end of the day, it's pretty obvious I have a great situation here." Cogliano has 13 goals, 25 points and a plus-16 rating in 43 games this season. It is a great situation for him in Anaheim.

Congratulations to Cogliano on the achievement.
