Andrei Markov won't play Wednesday night in Chicago. He is being rested by the Canadiens along with fellow defenseman Alexei Emelin. Carey Price also stayed in Montreal and Peter Budaj will start. Andrei Markov scored a goal and registered an assist in Montreal's 5-2 loss to Phoenix Thursday night. Montreal tied the game at 7:13 when Markov's blast from the left circle beat Mike Smith. Markov now has six goals and 32 assists in 65 games this season. Alex Galchenyuk also scored for the Canadiens, while defenseman P.K Subban added two helpers in the loss.

The veteran defenseman has recorded five goals and 31 points in 59 games this season. He can become an unrestricted free agent this summer and is currently making $5.75 million.

Alex Ovechkin, Pavel Datsyuk, Ilya Kovalchuk and Alexander Radulov joined him, with Radulov serving as the other point man.
