Alex Tanguay is just two points shy of the 700 point milestone. Dany Heatley recently became the 205th player to reach that milestone and Tanguay is currently competing with Chris Pronger (four shy) and Vinny Prospal (six shy) to become the 206th. Tanguay has three goals and 12 points in 17 games this season.

The Flames did not have many great scoring chances despite recording 30 shots. They did have a few flurries that ended in crossbars and posts but alas only Tanguay got one by Jhonas Enroth. Jay Bouwmeester and Matt Stajan picked up assists on the goal.

The veteran forward is producing nicely even as common linemate Jarome Iginla struggles in the early part of 2011-12. Who knows if Tanguay will justify the big contract he received over the long haul, but so far he's worth the money. Snatch him up if he's inexplicably a free agent in your league.

Alex Tanguay's five-year contract includes a limited no-trade clause. Tanguay is required to submit a list of 10 teams he would be willing to be traded to every year. "For me, term was really important," Tanguay said. "I was looking for stability for my family. Definitely five years was a little bit beyond my expectations, but sometimes you have to find ways to make deals work." He will come with a $3.5 million annual cap hit, which isn't bad for a player that scored 22 goals and 69 points last season. He works well with Jarome Iginla, which should help him surpass the 60-point marker again next season.

The Calgary Flames have signed Alex Tanguay to a five-year extension. Tanguay had a great renaissance season with the Flames last season. Calgary had to wait for the Robyn Regehr deal to go through before having enough room to sign Tanguay. Last season Tanguay had 22 goals and 47 assists. The terms were not disclosed.
