Alex Tanguay (upper body) skated prior to the Flames' Monday practice. Tanguay launched some shots on goal. He hasn't played since December 20th and there's no known timetable for his return.

The Calgary Flames have placed Alex Tanguay (upper body) on the injured reserve list. Tanguay suffered the injury on December 20 and he has been retroactively placed on the IR. He is now considered week-to-week so his return does not seem to be imminent.

Alex Tanguay is listed as week-to-week with an upper-body injury. He is not with the team on their current six-game road trip. Tanguay has already missed two games with the ailment.

Alex Tanguay will not suit up versus Detroit on Thursday because of an undisclosed injury. "I can't even pinpoint anything on it," said coach Brent Sutter after Thursday's morning skate. "I will say that I was somewhat surprised after the game (Tuesday against Minnesota) ... he's played some of his best hockey in the last four games of the whole year. I was quite surprised to see that he was going to be out on a day-to-day basis. We'll just monitor it and see where it goes." Tanguay has collected six points in 10 games during the month of December.

Alex Tanguay's stint with Tampa Bay in 2009-10 was not his best days. Tanguay set career-lows with 10 goals and 37 points in 80 games that season. "Parts through the season, I wasn't sure if I was going to keep playing," said Tanguay. "I really thought this might be it. I really wasn't having any fun. Over the summer, I realized how much I liked hockey, and last year, that was my goal - just to go back and enjoy myself - do what I've done as a kid and go out with a smile on my face." Tanguay ended up returning to Calgary, where he's revived his career. He'll get a chance to show the Lightning how much better he is now in Thursday's game.

Alex Tanguay returned from a flu on Tuesday. Tanguay missed Saturday's contest due to the illness. He had a shot on goal and a plus-one rating in his return.

Alex Tanguay appears ready to return to the Calgary Flames' roster after a bout with the flu. Tanguay likely will be in the lineup when the Flames visit the Nashville Predators tonight. Rookie centre/winger Greg Nemisz, who was summoned Friday night to fill in for the flu-stricken Tanguay, was sent back to the Abbotsford Heat, while rookie centre/winger Roman Horak and defenseman Brett Carson were called back up. Horak had been sent down last week to work on his game while Carson has been down on a conditioning stint as he works his way back from a nagging off-season back injury.

Alex Tanguay left Friday's workout early with flu-like symptoms. The flu bug could be going through the Calgary dressing room as Curtis Glencross was forced to miss Tuesday's game, although he did return on Thursday. Consider Tanguay a game-time decision for Saturday's Battle of Alberta as the Flames take on Edmonton.

Alex Tanguay scored the lone Calgary goal in a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Canucks Sunday night. Tanguay has managed to maintain a reasonable scoring pace despite the team's struggles, but he appears very unlikely to match the point totals he posted last season.
