Alex Tanguay is the only Calgary Flame to have played for new head coach Bob Hartley.
Tanguay played for Hartley in Colorado and while he was one of his whipping boys, Tanguay was thrilled with the signing of Hartley as the new coach made him a better player. Look for Tanguay to take on a big role, especially now and in training camp as he will be a leader, especially for the younger players, as to the ways of Bob Hartley. Tanguay should remain on the top line in 2012-13 and if he can stay healthy, a 55-60 point season is within his grasp.

Alex Tanguay (undisclosed) did not practice on Friday and will not be in the Calgary lineup Saturday.
Look elsewhere if you need help in assists on the final night of the NHL season as Tanguay will finish the season with 13 goals and 36 assists in 64 games.

Alex Tanguay sat out Thursday's game with an undisclosed ailment.
Tanguay had been playing with Matthew Stajan and Lee Stempniak since losing his job on the first line to Curtis Glencross. Consider him day-to-day with only one game left in the season.

The Calgary Flames ended a five-game losing streak -- in which they scored only six goals -- when they downed the Dallas Stars 5-4 Monday night.
But Alex Tanguay though the Flames played well during their drought. "Objectively, it's often percentages,'' reasoned Tanguay. "I know the last few games the puck didn't seem to go in. We had tons of chances. We felt we were due to get some bounces and (Monday) we definitely did. Personally, I thought I played pretty well the last two weeks, but nothing was going in. That's certainly frustrating considering your situation. We definitely wish those bounces had come earlier."

Alex Tanguay registered an assist in Tuesday's contest.
He has three goals and 12 points in 11 March games. He's slowed down a bit recently after a hot start to the month, but we could see him staying strong as Calgary fights to stay in the race for a playoff spot.

Alex Tanguay may have been injured Sunday when he took an elbow to the head from the Blue Jackets' Jared Boll.
Tanguay finished the game but was seen with doctors after the game so his status is unknown at this time. The Flames were livid that Boll only got a minor and thought that it was a deliberate shot to the head which is a suspendable offense in the NHL. Tanguay has been having neck issues so the problem may have been exacerbated with the errant elbow.

Alex Tanguay is just four assists away from reaching the 500 mark.
Tanguay is on track to become the 126th member of the 500-assist club. The milestone isn't particularly important to Tanguay though. "Not a whole lot," he said, when asked how much it would mean to him. "A milestone? Yeah, I guess. But I'm not thinking about it or anything like that. To me, a real milestone is like 1,000 points." He's 268 points away from 1,000, so that's still going to take him several more season's to reach.

Alex Tanguay scored his 11th goal of the season, and added three assists, in the Flames 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets.
Despite missing a month due to injury, he has come back even more impressive, scoring 23 points in 19 games. Tanguay and Jarome Iginla have a special chemistry that has them, along with Ollie Jokinen, form one of the deadliest lines in the NHL. The Flames need him to be on his A game down the stretch, if they have any hope of making the playoffs. Keep starting him, and Iginla and Jokinen too if you have them. Iginla, Matt Stajan, Mark Giordino, and Curtis Glencross also scored for the Flames.

Alex Tanguay scored his 10th goal of the season in a 3-2 defeat Friday.
Tanguay has been limited to 49 games this season due to a neck injury. However, he's been great lately, scoring five goals and 17 points in 15 games since the All-Star break. Tanguay probably won't maintain that pace, but he should still end up with over 0.7 points-per-game in the month of March.

Alex Tanguay registered a goal and an assist in the Calgary Flames' 5-4 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night.
The winger's goal, his ninth, put the Flames ahead briefly in the third period. It's his second consecutive two-point, plus-two game, and he now has 36 points in 46 games played. Mark Giordano (fifth), Matt Stajan (third) and Tom Kosopoulous (fourth) scored the game's first three goals. Interestingly enough, Lance Bouma had the only other assist for Calgary.
