The Calgary Flames have won only two of nine games at home this season. The Flames are 2-5-2 at home following the 3-1 loss to Los Angeles on Wednesday, but are 3-2-1 on the road. They currently stand 14th in the Western Conference, ahead of only the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets. "We all feel that we should be performing a whole lot better at home," Tanguay said. "And when it doesn't go our way, maybe we squeeze (our sticks) a little bit too much. Maybe we put too much pressure on ourselves. I don't know ... But whatever has happened, we have to put it in the past."

The Calgary Flames first line of Alex Tanguay, Michael Cammalleri and Jarome Iginla struggled in a 4-0 loss to Phoenix Monday. The trio were all minus-two and combined for only two shots on net in the loss. Coach Bob Hartley was not happy with the effort or lack thereof, of his players. "There's no message - the game is over," said Hartley. "Obviously I talked to them. I told them exactly what I just told you." Tanguay has four goals and 12 points in 14 games but his minus-six rating hurts.

Alex Tanguay potted the game-winning goal in overtime Thursday to give the Flames a 4-3 triumph versus Columbus. His fourth marker of the year came early into the extra session from Jarome Iginla and TJ Brodie. Brodie finished the contest with a pair of helpers and so did winger Jiri Hudler. Roman Cervenka (1), Lee Stempniak (4) and Mikael Backlund (3) also scored for Calgary in the win.

Alex Tanguay scored a goal in Thursday's 6-3 loss to Colorado. Tanguay is on a four-game point streak and now has three goals and five points in five games this season. It wouldn't be surprising to see him reach the 40-point mark this season, provided he can stay healthy.

Alex Tanguay is just one assist away from 500. Tanguay is on pace to become the 126th player in NHL history to achieve that milestone. He's gotten off to a great start this season with two goals and four points in four games.

Alex Tanguay missed practice Monday in what coach Bob Hartley described as a maintenance day. The Flames have played four games in the first 10 days of the schedule and have only five in the next 13 days as they start off the first 23 days of the season with the least amount of games. Nevertheless, Tanguay was given the day off and was replaced on the top line by Steve Begin. Hartley said that Tanguay will be good to go on Tuesday.

While the Calgary Flames fell short in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, Alex Tanguay owners should feel optimistic. A lot of the numbers are promising. He had nearly as much ice time as Jarome Iginla, totaling at 23:26. Tanguay's known more for being a passer, yet he had five shots on goal which resulted in one tally. If he has C/LW eligibility, you could do worse than scooping up Iggy's running mate.

The Calgary Flames are experimenting with using Alex Tanguay up the middle. The was some suspicion before training camp began that Tanguay might end up as the team's top center, but nothing has been decided yet. "Trying to get used to a new pace, trying to get used to a new position, I don't think I looked too good out there - I was a little bit out of place," said Tanguay. "I feel fine physically, but I feel that I'm still taking too much time thinking about where I need to be. But I'm looking forward to the next few days of practice and hopefully I can improve."

Alex Tanguay may line up as a center on opening night for Calgary on the team's top line. Needless to say the Flames are thin up the middle going into this season. Tanguay's playmaking style could help ease the transition if it happens, but it would take some getting used to since he has played his career as a left winger.

Alex Tanguay seems optimistic after the owners made their latest proposal on Tuesday. "I'm not too sure on the details, so I can't pronounce myself" Tanguay said. "But I'm excited. Fifty-fifty - they're come a long ways from their first offer. They're willing to negotiate. They're willing to settle." The NHL's new proposal would provide the players with a 50-50 split, which is far less than they got in the old CBA, but still much more than the NHL was offering when these negotiations started.
