Adam Larsson is back in Sweden to attend his grandmother's funeral on Thursday.
He is expected to miss Friday's game against Washington and Monday's contest in Carolina. "I thought the last two games he was fantastic, but I think it's a good break for him," coach Pete DeBoer said referring to the 19-year-old rookie. "This is a kid who hasn't been away from home before for an extended period, the first time in the NHL. I think there's a lot of positives for him taking a little break right now. I think the last two games he's been very good, so that's a good sign."

Adam Larsson is all right after Erik Cole's upper right arm appeared to make contact with his head in the first period of Saturday's game.
"Those are the hits you're trying to take out of the game," Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. "That's a textbook one to me, a dangerous play and fortunate that wasn't a serious injury." Larsson, 19, eventually got up, skated to the Devils' bench and played the remainder of the game. Larsson said he was "all right" after the hit. "It was just my neck was a little stiff and I just laid down there to make sure I was all right," he said. "All I know is that I got the shoulder in the head and we'll see how serious they think it was," Larsson said.

Peter DeBoer decided to remove Adam Larsson from the New Jersey Devils' power play units, at least for now.
DeBoer said that he wants Larsson's focus to be on 5-on-5 play. That's fine for the budding star's development, but it's a big blow to his fantasy value. He was already marginal at this very early part of his career, but he scored four of his 10 points on the man advantage. His numbers are modest right now, but the 19-year-old defenseman is the future of New Jersey's blueline and certainly a player to watch going forward.

Adam Larsson has tied the franchise record for a point streak by a rookie blueliner.
Larsson's five-game point streak was matched by Bruce Driver in 1985 and Scott Niedermayer in 1992. Larsson will get a chance to claim sole possession of the record on Wednesday.

Devils coach Pete DeBoer has faith that Adam Larsson will bounce back from his rough third period in Friday's game.
Larsson didn't play much in the final 20 minutes, but he did allow two turnovers. "This isn't the first time he's had a little bit of adversity," DeBoer said. "It's the first time he's probably sat for a stretch, but a few factors went into that, including the schedule. We've been very busy. He's logged a lot of minutes. We probably would not have sat him down and he probably would never admit it, but I think some of the mental mistakes guys make are due to fatigue sometimes and I felt he needed a rest. I have no doubt he'll bounce back." On a more positive note, Larsson is starting to heat up offensively with a point in each of his last four games.

Adam Larsson's game on Friday was definitely a mixed result.
Larsson registered a power-play assist in the second period, but he turned the puck over very early in the third period. Larsson was then benched until 7:31 of the third period when the Devils had the man advantage. Unfortunately, Larsson surrendered the puck again in that shift. The result is that he played just 14:14 minutes despite getting a point. It's worth noting that neither of Larsson's mistakes ended up costing the Devils as they still won 1-0.
