Tarvaris Jackson replaced starter Charlie Whitehurst in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Bengals. Whitehurst was a mess on his first two series, so Jackson -- the announced starter -- gets a chance. It appears he's playing with his pectoral at less than full strength. This is Jackson's first appearance since originally going down in Week 5.

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) is active and starting for the Seahawks in Sunday's game against the Bengals. Jackson is an upgrade on Charlie Whitehurst, but not a significant one. The entire Seahawks' offense is still hands off against the Bengals' top-5 defense. Jackson may not even be able to get his usual zip on the ball as he's not at 100 percent. Seahawks inactives: QB Josh Portis, WR Mike Williams, T Jarriel King, DT Al Woods, CB Kennard Cox, S Ron Parker and S Jeron Johnson.

Liz Mathews of 710 ESPN Seattle is confident that Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral, questionable) will start Sunday's game against Cincinnati. "I bet y'all 100 hot dogs he starts on Sunday," tweeted Mathews, after Jackson said Friday that he "put a little bit more mustard on the ball today." Jackson may play in the game, but there's no guarantee that he'll play all four quarters after a scaled-back week of practice. The entire Seahawks' offense needs to be avoided in fantasy football leagues this week.

The Seattle Times considers Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral, questionable) "much more likely" to start in Week 8 against the Bengals after his best practice of the week on Friday. Jackson did his "most extensive throwing" of the week Friday and worked with the first-team offense during the walkthrough portion of practice, which is open to the media. "(Jackson) threw the ball well," observed coach Pete Carroll. "He's still questionable, I guess is (how) we list him. We'll take it to the next couple days and see where we are, but that's a very good sign."

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) is listed as questionable for Week 8. Coach Pete Carroll said Jackson had his "best practice of the week" on Friday, but remains a game-time decision against the Bengals. "I think he'll have a chance to play," said Carroll. Hopefully, you're not counting on any Seattle players. It's a late game, and none of them are good fantasy starts.

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) practiced on a limited basis Thursday. Before Thursday, Jackson was still not throwing freely while only taking sporadic first-team reps. Coach Pete Carroll has called him a game-time decision. According Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, the "scuttlebutt" among Seahawks observers is that Jackson and Marshawn Lynch (back) will both end up playing on Sunday.

In a conference call with Bengals reporters Wednesday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll referred to Tarvaris Jackson's (pectoral) Week 8 availability as a "game-time decision." Carroll said the same thing last week, and Charlie Whitehurst started against the Browns. It sounds like Jackson has a pretty long way to go. It's still early in the week, but Whitehurst is probably the favorite to start Week 8.

Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) is still not able to throw freely and will be mixed in only "sporadically" with the Seahawks' first-team practice offense until his recovery turns a corner. It sounds like the Seahawks may be staring at another Charlie Whitehurst start. Jackson's pectoral strain is in his right (throwing) arm, so he's not going to be able to play quarterback until something changes. In Week 7, Whitehurst went 12-of-30 for a pathetic 97 yards. He also committed two turnovers.

Coach Pete Carroll said there's a good chance Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) will return for next Sunday's game against the Bengals. Jackson reportedly threw the ball well during warmups yesterday, but is not yet at 100 percent. Still, considering how inept Charlie Whitehurst was yesterday, we'd expect T-Jack to fight through any lingering pain next week. In five starts this season, Jackson is averaging 202.4 passing yards with six touchdowns against five interceptions.
