Fitzpatrick is being pulled from a second consecutive regular-season game. He exited midway through the fourth quarter with the Dolphins trailing 36-0. The veteran quarterback completed 11 of 21 passes for 89 yards and three interceptions, two of which resulted in pick-sixes. It remains to be seen whether Fitzpatrick will manage to keep his grip on the Dolphins' starting job after two disastrous performances.

Fitzpatrick is expected to start against the Patriots in Week 2, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.

Fitzpatrick completed just 14 of 29 pass attempts for 185 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Sunday's blowout loss to the Ravens and was replaced by Josh Rosen in the second half. Rosen didn't fare much better, completing one of three passes for five yards and one interception. The veteran signal-caller still appears to have a grip on Miami's starting job, but he may need to log a stronger performance against New England's stout defense in order to avoid the reigns being handed over to Rosen.

Josh Rosen then entered and compiled a 99-yard touchdown drive of his own, which featured a number of impressive scrambles and throws including a 39-yard connection to Isaiah Ford. Fitzpatrick has maintained a steady course for the Week 1 gig since minicamp, and may remain the favorite for the job, but it's not difficult to imagine a scenario in which Rosen lines up under center early in the regular season.

The final tally looks solid, but there was a point early in the second half in which Miami had more penalty yards than offensive yards. The poor first-half play led Fitzpatrick to return for the opening drive of the second half during which he connected with Nick O'Leary for a catch and run of 30 yards, found Mike Gesicki downfield for a gain of 29, and then dropped it off to Mark Walton for an eight-yard score. Excitement for that final drive will need to be tempered as it came against reserves. Fitzpatrick probably didn't do enough Thursday to garner too much confidence as the Week 1 starter, especially with Josh Rosen making some big throws in relief, but the veteran has been tracking toward a Week 1 start for months now and Thursday seemed to maintain the status quo.

Fitzpatrick, though listed atop the depth chart, didn't get involved until after half time as Miami let Josh Rosen lead the charge early. The results were rough, with the Dolphins punting on all three of Fitzpatrick's drives. It isn't as if Rosen set the world on fire either, leading Miami to two field goals on six drives. Miami is in a position in which it is evaluating its future at the position. Fitzpatrick has obviously done enough in the offseason to earn his spot at the top of the depth chart. He didn't do anything Friday to widen the gap Friday, but at the same time, Rosen did little to close it.
