Fitzpatrick is listed as the Buccaneers' starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
It's no surprise that Fitzpatrick will retain the starting gig after multiple reports surfaced earlier in the week suggesting the Buccaneers would proceed with the status quo even with Jameis Winston returning from suspension. Though Fitzpatrick leads all NFL passers with 11.1 yards per attempt, he showed some flaws as a decision maker in the first half of Monday's 30-27 loss to the Steelers, tossing three second-quarter interceptions before rallying in the second half. Because of Fitzpatrick's occasionally turnover-prone ways, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports suggested earlier Sunday that the 35-year-old could have a "short leash" if he falters early on in Week 4.

Fitzpatrick could be on a 'short leash' Sunday against the Bears, Fox's Jay Glazer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Keep in mind that Fitzpatrick did have a terrible first half against the Steeler on Monday night, so much that Dirk Koetter contemplated bringing in Ryan Griffin for him for the second half before sticking with Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick took most of the snaps at Wednesday's practice, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's yet another sign pointing to Fitzpatrick retaining the starting job in Jameis Winston's first week back from suspension. The Buccaneers haven't made an official announcement, but it could happen as soon as Wednesday evening. The team draws a tough Week 4 road matchup with the Bears.

The Buccaneers haven't named a starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Bears, but "all signs point to" Fitzpatrick retaining the gig, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jameis Winston has completed his three-game suspension and is eligible to return in Week 4, but the Buccaneers have yet to formally add him to the roster and may wait until Friday to do so after being granted a three-day exemption from the commissioner's office. While reinstating Winston looks to be a formality at this point, it doesn't appear he'll immediately reclaim the top job in light of Fitzpatick's outstanding play through the first three weeks. Fitzpatrick's grip on the role may have loosened after he tossed three second-quarter interceptions Monday against the Steelers, but he bounced back admirably in the second half to narrowly lead the Buccaneers to a comeback win. He still finished with over 400 passing yards for the third straight game and maintains an 11:4 TD:INT on the season, which looks like enough to keep him atop the depth chart for one more week. After Sunday's contest, the Buccaneers will have a bye Week 5, during which the team could re-examine its quarterback situation.

Fitzpatrick completed 30 of 50 passes for 411 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in Monday night's 30-27 loss to the Steelers. He also rushed five times for 27 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Fitzpatrick continued to entertain in Week 3, even though his performance was a rather turbulent ride. After finding Cameron Brate for a first-quarter touchdown, Fitzpatrick went on to throw an interception on three straight possessions during the second quarter, including one in the red zone and another that was returned 10 yards for a Steelers touchdown. That final pick put the Buccaneers down 20 points at halftime, requiring Fitzpatrick to air it out in search of a second-half comeback. It turned out that he still had some magic left, as he found Chris Godwin and Mike Evans for scores while topping 400 passing yards for the third straight game. Overall, he and Tampa Bay came up just short of a third victory, but there's no doubt Fitzpatrick's play has now created an interesting situation for the team's coaching staff, which will need to decide whether he or Jameis Winston will start in Week 4 versus the Bears, when Winston will be eligible to play after serving his three-game suspension to start this season.

Fitzpatrick completed 27 of 33 passes for 402 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in the Buccaneers' 27-21 win over the Eagles on Sunday. He also lost a yard on his sole rush.
EDGE Analysis
It's hard to say when Fitzpatrick's late-career Cinderella story might end, but presently, there incredibly doesn't appear to be a debate about how should be the Buccaneers' starting quarterback when Jameis Winston returns from suspension in Week 4. Fitzpatrick pout together his second consecutive 400-yard game to open the campaign, with a pair of 75-yard touchdowns to DeSean Jackson and O.J. Howard responsible for a huge chunk of his total. In all, Fitzpatrick hit four different pass catchers for scores, as Mike Evans and Chris Godwin also got into the end zone. The veteran journeyman's early-season exploits have the Tampa offense humming at a record pace and multiple members of the team's aerial attack offering excellent fantasy returns. Fitzpatrick will see if he has a third straight stellar effort in him when the Bucs face off with the Steelers in a Week 3 Monday night showdown.

Fitzpatrick completed 21 of 28 passes for 417 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 48-40 win over the Saints on Sunday. He also rushed 12 times for 36 yards and another score.
EDGE Analysis
To say no one saw this coming would be an understatement of epic proportions. Fitzpatrick shocked the Saints early and often, answering a Saints opening-driving touchdown with a 58-yard touchdown to DeSean Jackson and adding a three-yard touchdown run before the first quarter was over. The veteran gunslinger would go on to hit Chris Godwin and Mike Evans for scores of 13 and 50 yards, respectively, before capping off his record-setting afternoon with another 36-yard touchdown to Jackson. The yardage was a career high for Fitzpatrick, who for at least one week, lent plenty of credence to the notion of Jameis Winston's starting job not being guaranteed when he returns from his season-opening three-game suspension. Fitzpatrick will have unenviable task of trying to follow up Sunday's sensational effort against the Eagles in Week 2.

Fitzpatrick completed six of seven passes for 82 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Fitzpatrick started and played the first two drives, bouncing back strong after a rough outing last week. Assuming he's held out for the preseason finale, he'll finish the exhibition slate 17-of-28 passing for 183 yards without any touchdowns or interceptions. Fitzpatrick will start his three-game stretch filling in for Jameis Winston (suspension) with a tough Week 1 matchup at New Orleans.

Fitzpatrick completed five of 13 passes for 46 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Buccaneers' 30-14 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday. He also rushed once for seven yards.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran didn't look anywhere near as sharp as he had in the preseason opener, although he did lead a 14-play, 68-yard drive that culminated in a field goal. Fitzpatrick came up empty on two targets to Mike Evans during the opening possession, but he bounced back to hit Evans, Peyton Barber, Adam Humphries and Cameron Brate on the aforementioned successful series. Fitzpatrick is likely poised for a larger workload than the three drives he helmed Saturday when the Bucs take on the Lions next Friday in their third exhibition.

Fitzpatrick will start at quarterback during Thursday's preseason opener in Miami, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
This comes as no surprise since Fitzpatrick is set to start the first few games of the regular season due to Jameis Winston's three-game suspension. However, it's unclear how many snaps either of the team's top quarterbacks will take Sunday, as the Buccaneers are dealing with a rash of injuries along the offensive line. Head coach Dirk Koetter did indicate that Fitzpatrick could play the entire first quarter, but the risk of injury could force the coaching staff to give extra reps to backups Ryan Griffin and Austin Allen.
