Steelers OC Todd Haley believes Mike Wallace will be ready to play in Week 1. Wallace, who finally signed his one-year tender on Tuesday, has roughly 10 days to get up to speed. Haley believes the wideout position is easy to slide right into. "It's not a running back or someone who has to be in the action of the game," he said. "I think it's feasible he's ready to go when we start this thing up." Wallace will be Haley's starting split end. "I've been working out. I've been really good conditioning. I don't think that's going to be a problem," Wallace said.

Steelers signed restricted free agent Mike Wallace to a one-year, $2.742 million contract. Wallace would "love" to sign a long-term deal to remain in Pittsburgh because "this is where I want to stay." Now that he has reported, the Steelers are expected to be open to rekindling contract talks. ESPN's Adam Schefter believes it will "continue to be a difficult deal to get done" because Wallace wants to beat Vincent Jackson's five-year, $55.5 million pact. The Steelers aren't going to let a young Pro Bowl receiver leave without compensation, which leaves the franchise tag as a possibility in 2013.

Unsigned restricted free agent Mike Wallace has arrived at Steelers camp. He should sign his one-year, $2.742 million tender before the afternoon is through. While it's comforting to finally have confirmation that Wallace won't pull a Vincent Jackson and hold out into the regular season, he's going to be well behind the curve in new OC Todd Haley's offense. He could be limited to decoy duties for much of September.

Citing a team source, ESPN's Josina Anderson reports restricted free agent Mike Wallace has been picked up from the airport by Steelers officials and is currently en route to club headquarters. He should be signing his one-year, $2.742 million tender shortly. Anderson reports Wallace will be at the facility in time for early-Tuesday team meetings. ESPN's Jerry Rice opined on SportsCenter Monday that there's "no way" Wallace will be ready for a Week 1 impact after missing all of camp and the preseason, going so far as to suggest it could take Wallace "four to five games." Rice's take is obviously on the pessimistic side.

Mike Wallace is now expected to report to the Steelers on Tuesday. No word on why he didn't arrive Monday as originally anticipated. Either way, Wallace won't be eligible to practice with the team until next week thanks to the new CBA rules. That will give him just one week to get up to speed in new OC Todd Haley's offense. Owners should be expecting a slow, inconsistent start to the year for 60 Minutes.

The Colts are not talking to the Steelers about a trade for Mike Wallace, according to CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora.

Owner Jim Irsay tweeted Thursday that "serious trade winds are swirling" with the Colts willing to give up a high pick for a "serious vet/starter." It's unlikely the Jaguars would trade Maurice Jones-Drew within the division, but unsigned restricted free agent Mike Wallace makes a lot of sense with Austin Collie's (concussion) status up in the air and former Steelers coordinator Bruce Arians now calling the plays in Indy. Irsay concedes these types of deals "often crumble and don't reach completion," but assures Colts fans that GM Ryan Grigson "isn't afraid to roll the dice" and aggressively improve the roster. "My checkbook stands ready," adds Irsay.

Steelers receiver Emmanuel Sanders is buying reports that unsigned restricted free agent Mike Wallace will sign his one-year, $2.742 million tender and report to the team this weekend. "That is the speculation and I think it's true," said Sanders. "I have been hearing (Wallace) is going to show up soon. We are looking forward to getting him out here. He brings those big plays to the team, speed to the team. We are all excited for the weekend to see what happens." Wallace's return on, say, Saturday would give him two weeks to begin learning Todd Haley's new offense.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports unsigned restricted free agent Mike Wallace is expected to sign his one-year tender and report to team facilities this weekend. Wallace will re-join teammates after they square off against the Bills Saturday night, leaving two weeks and the final preseason game to tune up for the season opener. Although beat writer Ed Bouchette had previously opined that Wallace's actions had eliminated any chance of a long-term deal in Pittsburgh, he now believes the sides could reopen negotiations over the next two weeks. Our concern is that Wallace could spend September running clear-out routes for Antonio Brown after missing Todd Haley's offensive install in offseason practices and training camp.
