Sanchez has shown off leadership and quality throws early in camp, The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Gary Kubiak has heaped praise onto both Mark Sanchez and his young challenger, rookie Paxton Lynch early in camp. Sanchez has drawn positive reviews for both his chemistry with receivers and his leadership, keeping the offense focused after a long, chippy practice. Lynch's steady progress certainly makes Sanchez's job throughout 2016 less secure, but the job is still his to lose.

Sanchez opened training camp with the first-team offense, ESPN's Jeff Legwold reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Denver's QB competition will reportedly be "wide open", the 29-year-old Sanchez should have an early edge over second-year pro Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch. All three signal-callers are expected to get work with the first-team offense during training camp, but that won't necessarily be the case in the preseason.

The Broncos' quarterback competition is wide open, The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The news comes from the top, general manager John Elway, but the super-competitive hall-of-famer has little reason to say anything else. His job, and the job of head coach Gary Kubiak, is to keep all three competitors motivated. Split reps, which the Broncos are expected to divvy out, probably favor rookie Paxton Lynch because they offer a better shot at catching up than typical second or third-team reps. In the end, the job is still probably Sanchez's to lose given the fact that the defending champions have an opportunity to remain competitive with even average quarterback play. If he fails to provide that safety net, however, there would be little reason for the team no to throw Lynch in to see what he can do.

Sanchez (thumb) has only a slight edge in the Broncos' quarterback battle, Troy Renck of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Back and forth the rumor mill goes. Sanchez's grip on the starting job seems to change daily - fueled by a few quotes from head coach Gary Kubiak and reporters' observations from segments of practices. The truth is that clarity into the Broncos' quarterback situation won't come until depth charts are released. Nobody ever mistook Sanchez for anything more than a veteran stopgap, but given that he's the only quarterback on the roster with a NFL passing attempt, it'd be a pretty big upset if he doesn't open the season as the starter.

Sanchez (thumb) is engaged in a neck-and-neck battle for Denver's top job with Trevor Siemian, The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Just a week ago, the team's official website reported that Sanchez was cementing his place as the starter. So what gives? Chalk it up to the offseason news cycle that magnifies every ebb and flow in a position battle. While Siemian does have the most experience in Denver's offense, Sanchez has a background in it and is far more playing time under his belt. Both Siemian and first-round pick Paxton Lynch are dark horses to steal the job with strong camps - Sanchez is hardly the kind of quarterback who a team can hang its hat on - but it would still be an upset at this point if the veteran didn't start the season opener against Carolina.

Sanchez (thumb) has solidified his place atop Denver's depth chart, 9NEWS reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though there have been reports touting both holdover Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch, the news solidifies what many assumed on draft night - that Sanchez would likely be Denver's Week 1 starter. Sanchez might be new to town, but he reportedly ran a similiar offense at USC, offers the lone veteran presence at the position and has been active in trying to bond with his new teammates. There might be a point during training camp that Lynch or Siemian catches up, but for now - the safe bet is on Sanchez to start the season.

Sanchez's experience figures to give him an edge in the Broncos' starting quarterback competition, The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez, who had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his non-throwing hand's thumb earlier this month, participated in seven-on-seven and positional drills along with rookie Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian during OTAs this week. Although those two were also able to go through team drills, something Sanchez was unable to do, Sanchez's previous experience as an NFL starter bodes well for him going into training camp. That's when the Broncos' quarterback competition is expected to heat up, and despite not having started a Week 1 game since 2012, Sanchez's veteran status gives him the early leg up on Lynch and Siemian.

EDGE Analysis
So much for Sanchez missing time following surgery on his non-throwing hand. Sanchez reportedly split time evenly between rookie Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian before stepping aside during team drills. By practicing, Sanchez gained some valuable time with his receivers and prevented his young competitors from getting too much of a leg up. Too big of a deal was likely made over the importance of Sanchez being ready for OTAs, but showing his new teammates and coaches that he is ready to push himself while injured can only help Sanchez as he strives for Denver's starting job.

Sanchez (thumb), who is expected to miss the early part of OTAs with an injury to his non-throwing hand, will need plenty of work to build chemistry with his new receivers, the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez threw with several of Denver's receivers earlier in the offseason and head coach Gary Kubiak has stated that the offense's verbiage is similar to what Sanchez played with at USC. The fact that he has a leg up on rookie Paxton Lynch in both familiarity with the offense and the receivers doesn't make missing the beginning of OTAs a non-issue, but it's more of a gain in experience for Lynch than loss for Sanchez. Lynch is the more physically talented player and will start once he closes the gap between the two on the mental aspects of the game. That will require big strides throughout the summer. If Lynch unseats Sanchez atop the depth chart sooner than later, it probably won't be because Sanchez missed a few practices in May.

Sanchez said he hopes to participate in all OTAs after having surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez had surgery on his thumb to speed up his recovery, and with it being his non-throwing hand he should be able to return even sooner. While it was originally considered unlikely that he would be able to participate for the first few days of OTAs, his comments indicate it may be more feasible than previously thought. The Broncos' OTAs begin next week Tuesday.
