Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times hears the "clock is ticking" for the Ravens to sign free agent WR Malcom Floyd. The Ravens presumably have an offer out to Floyd's agent, who was asking for the moon early in free agency. Floyd's decision could turn out to have major repercussions for the Ravens offense, as the fallback plan appears to be re-signing a swiftly declinging Derrick Mason while hoping raw rookie Torrey Smith (hamstring) is ready to make an early-season impact. Per Wilson, Floyd's other suitors are the Vikings, Cardinals, Panthers, and Raiders.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune's Judd Zulgad suggests the Vikings are still interested in free agent WR Malcom Floyd. Zulgad isn't reporting that the two sides are in negotiations, but he warned not to "dismiss" reports that the Vikes are interested. Floyd would fill a major need as a vertical threat after the Vikings opted to replace Sidney Rice with blocking specialist Michael Jenkins. They'll have to outbid the Ravens to land him.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens have "strong interest" in free agent Malcom Floyd. They clearly prefer Floyd to free agent Braylon Edwards. Floyd turns 30 before the season, but can stretch the field with a career yards-per-reception average of 17.27. He also broke into the league with the Chargers when Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron held the same position in San Diego back in 2004.

Free agent WR Malcom Floyd still has a "slim chance" of re-signing with the Chargers, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Floyd's market has been slow to develop because his agent is reportedly seeking a contract in the neighborhood of $5 million per season. Beat writer Kevin Acee suspects Floyd will ultimately settle for half of that, which is still to rich for the Chargers' taste.

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the Jets' free agent options at receiver are Malcom Floyd, James Jones, and Braylon Edwards. Noticeably absent: Randy Moss. Beat writer Jenny Vrentas concedes that Edwards may be too expensive, but that door hasn't been shut. This is the first we've heard of a Jets interest in Floyd, who has previously been connected to the Vikings and 49ers.

The 49ers have reportedly joined the hunt for free agent Malcom Floyd. The Niners aren't messing around with Michael Crabtree's injury. Two sources have reported they pursued a trade with Chad Ochocinco, and they are now in discussions with Floyd's camp. They appear to be aiming higher than just an early-season fill-in.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune is "hearing" that free agent Malcom Floyd will either sign with the Cardinals or Vikings. Acee posted this on Twitter late Thursday. Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic quickly tweeted in response that the Cardinals "are not showing interest in Floyd." In other words, it seems apparent that Floyd's agent is using Arizona as a leverage ploy. We'd now consider Minnesota the heavy favorite to land him.

The Bears have made contact with free agent Malcom Floyd. Nothing is close here, but the Bears are poking around for an upgrade at wide receiver. If they are going to let Greg Olsen go, they could certainly use some size to go with Johnny Knox and Earl Bennett. The problem is that Floyd's pricetag could escalate quickly as the Vikings have shown interest as well.

Beat writer Judd Zulgad hears the Vikings have interest in free agent Malcom Floyd. The Vikings are in the market for receiver help after losing Sidney Rice to the Seahawks late Wednesday night. Floyd would certainly be a downgrade, but his best skills are getting deep. That would fit well with the strong-armed Donovan McNabb and help clear out the mid-range routes for Percy Harvin. A signing here would make sense.

The San Diego Union-Tribune suggests the market for free agent Malcom Floyd will have to wait on a Sidney Rice signing. "Pretty much same teams showing interest," explains beat writer Kevin Acee. The teams we've heard connected with Rice are the Seahawks, Vikings, and Rams. Braylon Edwards is also expected to be a fallback option for those teams. We've also seen speculation that the Panthers could be interested in Floyd considering his history with coordinator Rob Chudzinski.
