Falcons RE John Abraham is expected to remain on a snap count this season.
Abraham averaged 41.9 snaps per game in 2011, and DL coach Ray Hamilton expects him to average 40-45 this season. "Now, if a team is passing more, then he's going to get more snaps," Hamilton said. The 34-year-old Abraham has notched at least 9.5 sacks in four of the past five seasons.

Falcons RE John Abraham's new three-year contract has a base value of only about $16 million.
About $7 million of that is due in "per-game roster bonuses," meaning Abraham will have to stay healthy and playing in order to earn a large chunk of his deal. He got a $2.25 million signing bonus, along with a $1.5 million first-year base salary and twin $3.25 million salaries in 2013 and 2014. Abraham can make more through escalators, but the Falcons will be satisfied if he does. Regardless, this was a very team-friendly deal.

Falcons re-signed DE John Abraham to a three-year contract.
Easily the top pass rusher left on the market, Abraham will return to the team where he's spent the past six years. Abraham was often on a snap count during his age-33 campaign last season, but was still one of the league's top 4-3 ends, and notched 9.5 of the Falcons' 33 sacks. His departure would have left a gaping hole along the Falcons' defensive line.

The Falcons are reportedly still working on a new deal with free agent DE John Abraham.
The Titans are attempting to schedule a visit as well, but that will have to wait until their full-court press on Peyton Manning runs its course. Abraham's hesitation suggests the Falcons aren't close to meeting his asking price.

Profootballtalk reports the Titans are interested in free agent DE John Abraham.
The Titans and Abraham were reportedly close to scheduling a visit only to be waylaid by the team's dogged pursuit of Peyton Manning. That chase has already cost the Titans a shot at Mario Williams, the premier pass rusher on the market.

The player rep for John Abraham characterized this weekend's talks with the Falcons as "do or die" for the free agent's future in Atlanta.
The two sides have yet to touch on specific years and numbers, but the initial discussions have gone poorly. The Falcons are hesitant to pay a 34-year-old injury risk top pass-rushing dollars, so there's a good chance he's going to hit the open market in March. Abraham's goal is to play three more seasons.

After speaking to the Falcons, the player rep for free agent DE John Abraham believes his client is headed for the open market.
The Falcons are severing ties as Abraham goes on age 34. With no realistic in-house replacement, Atlanta will look to the draft and free agency for a new right defensive end. Pass rush was a problem for the Falcons in 2011, even with Abraham on the roster and Ray Edwards signed to play left defensive end. Mike Smith's team tied for 22nd in sacks and ranked 20th against the pass.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution believes impending free agent DE John Abraham will have to take a pay-cut from his 2011 base salary of $8 million to return to the Falcons in 2012.
Abraham was essentially the Falcons' lone effective pass rusher this season despite spending most of the year on a snap count. He tallied a team leading 9.5 sacks. The Journal-Constitution believes he'd only be re-signed as a pass-rushing specialist, and not an every-down player if he's brought back for his age-34 campaign.
