CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Cardinals have an offer on the table to free agent DE/OLB John Abraham. Abraham, 35, visited the team on Wednesday. Arguably the top free agent available on the open market, he'd immediately become the Cardinals' top edge rusher if signed. Abraham has never played outside 'backer in a 3-4 defense, but the Falcons moved him around and stood him up on multiple occasions over the last couple of seasons. He'd be a huge upgrade on both Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander.

According to XTRA 910 Phoenix, free agent DE/OLB John Abraham is visiting the Cardinals Wednesday. Abraham remains on the street because of playing time and salary demands. With training camp here, perhaps he's willing to come back to reality. At age 35, Abraham could play a situational pass-rushing role for the Cardinals, shifting to outside linebacker for the first time in his career to accommodate their 3-4. Projected starting OLBs Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander combined for just 6.5 sacks last year. Abraham posted 10 by himself.

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff recently hinted that bringing back free agent DE John Abraham is extremely unlikely. The Falcons cut Abraham and his $4.25 million base salary in March. They proceeded to replace him with Osi Umenyiora on a two-year, $8.5 million deal. The 35-year-old Abraham is still on the open market, but it's unclear if he's willing to accept a reduced role for limited pay on the team that shunned him. Before the Falcons make any veteran additions, they need to get Matt Ryan's contract extension done.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports talks between the Titans and free agent DE John Abraham are in a "stall." The Nashville Tennessean reported late last month that a deal was unlikely, so it's not exactly a surprise. Now 35, Abraham is still an effective pass-rusher, but not on an every-down basis. He'll have to be amenable to a price that reflects that. He should find a new home before camp.

Free agent DE John Abraham has reportedly told at least one team he wants to be on the field for 60 percent of the snaps this season. In theory, it's not an unreasonable request. Abraham played on 71.6 percent of the Falcons' defensive snaps last season, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 5 overall 4-3 defensive end. However, he's now 35 years old and is giving teams "sticker shock" with his asking price. The Broncos, for example, were interested in him as a third-down pass-rusher before they settled on Shaun Phillips. At some point, Abraham will swallow his pride and accept a specialist role along with Dwight Freeney kind of money (two years, $8.75M). The Falcons, Titans and Patriots have all shown interest at various points this offseason.

The Nashville Tennessean doesn't expect the Titans to sign free agent John Abraham. "All those clamoring for a John Abraham signing should brace themselves for disappointment," tweeted beat writer Jim Wyatt. "The money Dwight Freeney got didn't help things." The Titans had been "staying in touch" with Abraham as recently as two Fridays ago, but Freeney scored a two-year, $8.75 million deal with $4.75 million guaranteed from the Chargers over the weekend. Tennessee has just over $6 million in cap room, and it hasn't signed a single draft pick yet.

Coach Mike Munchak says the Titans are staying in touch with free agent John Abraham. Abraham didn't sign with Tennessee by the end of the week as it was reported might happen, but he's not off their radar. Munchak also left the door open for the Titans to make a run at free agent Dwight Freeney. They hosted Israel Idonije early last week and are clearly in the market for defensive end assistance.

Citing a league source, Profootballtalk reports the holdup in John Abraham's free agency is his desire to be a full-time player again. Abraham wasn't a full-time player the past two seasons in Atlanta; the Falcons smartly managed his snaps and he was highly productive. Per PFT, "most teams" see Abraham as a 25 snaps-per-game pass rusher, but he wants to resume playing 60 a game. Abraham would be best served swallowing his pride to accept a rotational role on a contender. He's 35 years old and most effective on fewer reps.

USA Today reports the Falcons have been in contact with free agent John Abraham about re-signing, but Abraham isn't interested. "[The Falcons] were told by Abraham that it's not going to happen," writes Mike Garafolo. There was reportedly a "big push from inside the Falcons locker room" to bring the 35-year-old back. Abraham is likely a bit salty after getting cut and being replaced by fellow veteran Osi Umenyiora in Atlanta. Abraham remains in talks with the Titans, but he could visit another team if a deal isn't reached.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Titans are in discussions about signing free agent John Abraham in a move that could be finalized as soon as this week. Abraham is coming off a ten-sack, six-forced fumble season while grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 5 overall 4-3 defensive end. The Titans are in all-out win-now mode, hitting free agency hard and trading away a future third-round pick for the six-spot jump in the draft's second round that landed them Justin Hunter. Abraham would fit that criteria because he is 35 years old.
