Langford was wearing a walking boot on his left foot at Saturday's practice, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach John Fox stated that he thought Langford had his foot stepped on in Thursday's preseason game. As expected, Fox offered nothing in the way of specifics on the injury, so it's difficult to tell whether Langford wearing the boot is precautionary, or if it is protecting an injury that could cost him some time. After having an excellent game against the Patriots, he's currently looking like he'll be the clear lead back in Week 1 if his foot injury checks out well.

Langford had eight carries for 55 yards and a touchdown, adding one catch for eight yards on one target, in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
After taking every first-team snap in the initial preseason game, Langford handled the first two drives of Thursday's contest before giving way to Jacquizz Rodgers, who managed just seven yards on six carries and didn't draw any targets. Fifth-round rookie Jordan Howard then dominated the second half workload, gaining 46 yards on 11 carries, but also failing to get a target. While recent reports suggest the Bears could deploy a committee, it's increasingly clear Langford will open the season as the lead back, and his preseason usage hasn't exactly been indicative of a committee situation. It is worth noting that the Bears played Thursday's game without Ka'Deem Carey (concussion), who could be an option at the goal line.

Langford is expected to get the first crack to replace Matt Forte, but the Bears plan to use a running back-by-committee, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dickerson cites Langford suffering from a case of the drops in 2015, and doesn't feel he catches the ball well enough to finish with 36 receptions. He also mention that Jacquizz Rodgers is a better option catching passes out of the backfield. Finally, he noted that the team liked to use Ka'Deem Carey in the red zone because of his powerful running style. It appears that Langford is in for a battle, and the last two preseason games could go a long way toward determining how this backfield shapes up in Week 1.

Langford had four carries for seven yards and one catch for three yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
According to Pro Football Focus, Langford took all of the snaps with Jay Cutler and the first-team offense, which managed just one first down on three drives. The other Chicago running backs didn't fare any better than Langford, with Jordan Howard, Jacquizz Rodgers and Ka'Deem Carey combining for just 25 yards on 10 carries, though Rodgers (2-23-0) and Carey (2-22-0) did contribute through the air. Langford clearly has pole position, but the Chicago backfield will be worth watching throughout the preseason.

Langford bulked up in the offseason so he can be used as a three-down back, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Langford had some success in his audition with the Bears as a rookie last year, he'll also need to focus on being more sure-handed as a receiver. Also, bulking up could make him stronger, but he certainly runs the risk of losing some of his speed and explosiveness- traits that were a big part of the success he had when making big plays last year. He'll clearly be a player to watch during preseason games, as he competes with rookie Jordan Howard, Ka'Deem Carey and Jacquizz Rodgers to claim his spot in the team's backfield pecking order.

Although Langford is currently the lead running back for the Bears entering training camp, a committee approach appears to be on the horizon, reports Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
EDGE Analysis
Bears head coach John Fox wants to limit the workload of his running backs while employing the hot hand approach, which would make it difficult for Langford to have a role as a feature back. That said, the coaching staff is counting on getting him to run with a wider base so he can gain more yards after contact, which if done successfully, could help him see early down work. However, Jacquizz Rodgers, based on his past experience as a third-down back, could hold onto that role for awhile. The upcoming training camp battle at running back will be one to closely monitor.

Langford enters next week's OTAs as the Bears' projected starting running back, but the team is ultimately expected to deploy a committee rushing approach centered around whoever develops the hot hand in a given game, the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Langford rushed for 537 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie last season, but his 3.6 yards per carry marks a concern as the Bears plan to replace long-time standout Matt Forte this year. While Langford, who also struggled after contact and had numerous drops, goes into OTAs as Chicago's first-string tailback, teammates Ka'Deem Carey, Jacquizz Rodgers and enticing rookie Jordan Horward are expected to push him for touches. In the end, coach John Fox says the team will divide the workload until someone gets in a rhythm, at which point that player will see the greatest involvement.

New offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains stated that Langford has areas he can improve upon in the passing game, the Bears website reports.
EDGE Analysis
Langford was last in the league last year with a 16.7 percent drop rate among receivers with at least 10 receptions, according to Sportingcharts.com, so he'll definitely need to improve his hands. In addition, he'll be expected to continue to grow as a pass protector. Despite being the clear leader as the Bears receiving option out of the backfield entering the preseason, he'll need to continue earning Jay Cutler's trust to come anywhere near matching the production that Matt Forte had in this offense.

With Matt Forte headed to the Jets, Langford is expected to open the preseason as the Bears starting running back.
EDGE Analysis
Langford had a bit of an audition as the team's lead back last year after Forte was injured in mid-season. During that time, he had at least 11 carries in eight straight games, though he only averaged more than 4.0 yards per carry in three of those contests. In addition, he proved to be an excellent receiver, as he averaged 12.68 yards on his 22 receptions. He seems to be a lock as the passing-down back, but he'll likely need to improve on his 3.63 yards per carry to hold off Ka'Deem Carey, who averaged four yards per carry in 2015, for early down work.

General Manager Ryan Pace asserted that Langford is currently penciled in as the Bears starting running back for 2016, the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
This comes as no surprise, as the team had no interest in bringing back Matt Forte. However, Langford will need to improve on his 3.6 yards per carry on 148 rushing attempts last year to be a full-time player. Despite his struggles as a runner, he was an excellent receiver who averaged 12.7 yards on his 22 receptions.
