Doyle (neck) returned to practice Monday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
EDGE Analysis
Doyle has been tending to a neck injury for the better part of two weeks, missing most practices and Saturday's team scrimmage in the process. His presence Monday indicates he's getting closer to full health, but ultimately his level of participation is not yet known. Once he's back in action, Doyle will look to establish himself as the top tight end in a Philip Rivers-led offense.

Doyle (neck) did not participate in Saturday's scrimmage, the Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Doyle suffered a neck injury Aug. 19 and missed several days of training camp. He returned to practice Wednesday in pads and did individual work, but has not since participated in full drills. The Colts are likely being cautious with this return, but watch his status leading up to Week 1.

Doyle (neck) returned to practice Wednesday, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
A few missed practices shouldn't really matter for the veteran tight end, who is locked in as a starter. New Colts quarterback Philip Rivers has a track record of heavily targeting his tight ends, but it isn't entirely clear that will carry over to Indianapolis, where there's a three-headed monster in the backfield and a pair of promising young wide receivers behind T.Y. Hilton. On the other hand, a three-down role in an efficient offense could give Doyle fantasy utility even if he's not a priority in the passing game. The possibility also exists that the Colts may look to replace Doyle in favor of Trey Burton in obvious passing situations. A Week 1 matchup with the Jaguars should provide fertile ground for Rivers and the Indianapolis passing game.

Doyle will not practice Saturday due to a neck injury, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Evidently Doyle has been out since Wednesday with the neck injury, although the team doesn't classify the issue as serious. Trey Burton has reportedly excelled with the additional opportunities Doyle's absence has afforded him, drawing praise from offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni.

Doyle should have more receiving opportunities this season, Joel Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Doyle played 74.1 percent of the Colts' offensive snaps last season, catching 43 of 72 targets for 448 yards and four touchdowns. He won't necessarily see a huge jump in targets, but he should be a regular presence on the field, and a QB switch from Jacoby Brissett to Philip Rivers could help the 30-year-old bump up his catch rate from last year's career-low 59.7 percent. There's an opportunity for Doyle to get more snaps in obvious passing situations if offseason acquisition Trey Burton can't prove himself as a suitable replacement for Eric Ebron (Steelers).

Doyle played 37 of the Colts' 56 offensive snaps (66 percent) and hauled in one of four targets for a six-yard gain in the team's 38-20 loss to the Jaguars in Week 17.
EDGE Analysis
After being rewarded with a three-year, $21.3 million contract extension in early December, Doyle didn't exactly reward the Colts for their investment. Over his three games after landing the extension, Doyle contributed just five receptions for 44 yards across 13 targets. The new deal and general manager Chris Ballard's recent acknowledgement that Eric Ebron (ankle) wouldn't be re-signed nonetheless clears the way for Doyle to enter 2020 as the clear top option on the depth chart at tight end. However, as his production down the stretch seemed to illustrate, Doyle may struggle to be a reliable week-to-week option in fantasy lineups with Jacoby Brissett as his quarterback rather than Andrew Luck.

Doyle caught two of four passes for 17 yards during Sunday's 38-6 win over the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Doyle's 17 yards were a season low. The veteran tight end has had a ho-hum season, managing just four games with at least 30 receiving yards. The Colts' pass offense has been on the decline over the past month and a half, having been held under 200 yards in four of the last six games. The season ends net Sunday against Jacksonville's middle-of-the-pack pass defense, but the Colts and Doyle have done little to inspire confidence that they'll be able to do much to capitalize on the matchup.

Doyle caught two of five targets for 21 yards in Monday night's 34-7 loss to the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Doyle ranked third on the Colts in targets, but nobody on Indy's offense could produce much against a stingy Saints defense. The tight end has now caught just two passes in back-to-back games following his best outing of the season in Week 13.

Doyle caught two of six targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 38-35 loss to Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Fresh off signing a three-year extension, Doyle delivered a dud against a Buccaneers defense that has been quite generous to tight ends this season. He has three touchdowns in his last five games, but he's only topped 50 yards twice this season, making him tough to trust against the Saints in Week 15.

Doyle signed a three-year contract extension with the Colts on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The team didn't officially announce the financial terms of Doyle's new deal, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relays that the tight end is due more than $21 million in new money, with undisclosed incentives potentially pushing the value of the contract up to $24 million. With Doyle locked up through the 2022 season, the Colts will most likely move on from fellow tight end Eric Ebron (ankles), who is set to become a free agent this spring. Ebron has bounced back from an injury shortened 2018 campaign to play in all 12 of the Colts' games to date, recording 36 receptions for 377 yards and four touchdowns in those contests.
