Freeman (quadriceps) rushed 17 times for 93 yards, but was not targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 35-28 win at Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman got 17 carries to Tevin Coleman's 12, but it was Coleman who managed to find the end zone. It's surprising that he wasn't involved as a receiver at all after catching 73 balls for 578 yards last season. This was a nice bounce-back effort after Freeman managed just 20 yards on 11 carries in Week 1, but it looks like Coleman will be a permanent thorn in his side moving forward.

Freeman (quadriceps) is listed as active Sunday in Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman was unable to log a full session Wednesday but followed it up with every drill in consecutive practices to end the week. With little worry about his availability, the primary concern now is how many touches he'll yield to Tevin Coleman out of the backfield after a near-even split (15 versus 13) in the season opener.

Freeman (quad) was a full practice participant Friday and does not have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Coming off consecutive full practices, Freeman isn't in any danger of missing Sunday's game in Oakland. The only concern is his role in the Atlanta backfield, as he and Tevin Coleman split the workload evenly in Week 1, with the latter enjoying a far more productive game. Both players are expected to have key roles Sunday.

Freeman (quadriceps) will be a full practice participant Thursday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
The uninhibited session follows a limited showing Wednesday, which was likely one way to ease the strain on the Falcons' No. 1 back in name. In the season opener, Freeman was afforded 15 touches, while backup Tevin Coleman handled 13, so a more balanced backfield may become the status quo as the 2016 season unfolds.

Freeman was limited in practice Wednesday due to a quadriceps injury, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Both Freeman and Tevin Coleman were corralled by a much-improved Bucs defensive front in Week 1, managing 2.2 YPC between the duo. Coleman separated himself from Freeman with far more explosive plays in the passing attack, including a 47-yard catch that fueled a team-leading 95-yard effort. With a quad injury in tow, Freeman could yield some snaps to Coleman this Sunday at Oakland. Fortunately for Freeman, two practices remain to prove his Week 2 health.

Freeman gained only 20 yards on 11 carries and secured four targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Bucs.
EDGE Analysis
Last year's breakout star couldn't get anything going on the ground against an improved and aggressive Tampa front seven. Freeman also found himself giving way to backfield mate Tevin Coleman a bit more than what might have been expected with the Falcons falling behind by double digits at one point. He'll look to bounce back against what should be a somewhat easier assignment versus the Raiders in Week 2.

Freeman gained eight yards on five carries and secured two of three catches for 10 yards in Thursday's 17-6 preseason loss to the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
Last season's breakout star couldn't duplicate the success he'd found on the ground in last week's effort against the Browns, where he'd ripped off 42 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Freeman looked quick, decisive and willing Thursday, but the Dolphins countered with a suffocating and stonewalling run defense. The second-year back is nevertheless slated to begin the season as the starter, but fellow sophomore ballcarrier and 2015 third-round pick Tevin Coleman figures to lay claim to a notable swath of playing time as well.

Freeman had four carries for 42 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason game against the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman got the start and was quite impressive, but the Falcons again mixed Tevin Coleman in with the first-team offense, though it may have just been to give Freeman a breather. In any case, Coleman had a far less impressive night, gaining just 16 yards on five carries. Freeman is the clear starter and lead back, but the extent of Coleman's involvement remains a major question mark.

Freeman had five carries for nine yards in Thursday's preseason opener against Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman and Tevin Coleman both got work with the first-team offense, and the former actually ended up getting more carries, with Coleman taking just two. Though not in any immediate danger of losing the starting job, Freeman may cede a significant number of snaps to Coleman, after handling a massive workload for much of last year.

Freeman's touch total in 2016 could decrease in order to keep him fresher and also get Tevin Coleman more involved in the Falcons' offense, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman narrowly trailed Coleman on the Falcons' depth chart going into last season, but after the then-rookie broke his ribs in Week 2, Freeman fully capitalized on his newfound starting opportunity, finishing with 1,634 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns. While that production earned Freeman fantasy fame and a Pro Bowl selection, Falcons running back coach Bobby Turner recently revealed the team's backfield could further improve by getting Coleman more involved. With obvious big-play potential, Coleman showed flashes during his 12-game first season, and with better health and ball security, could cut into Freeman's snaps this season, making Atlanta's backfield situation worthwhile to monitor once again going into the upcoming campaign.
