Daniel Thomas rushed 23 times for 95 yards and added three catches for 27 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Browns. Thomas' 4.1 yards per carry were impressive. He consistently moved the pile, making one cut and falling forward while breaking tackles. The rookie continues to gain the trust of the coaching staff, getting the nod in a 4th-and-1 spot today and converting. The Dolphins are realizing that Reggie Bush (11 carries, 24 yards) is not a real running back and are riding Thomas. He'll be a RB2/flex option in San Diego next week.

Daniel Thomas played 33 snaps on Sunday compared to 25 for Reggie Bush. It only took the Dolphins an entire preseason plus one regular season game to realize that Bush isn't a feature back. The light appeared to come on for Thomas yesterday as the 230-pounder rumbled between the tackles for 107 yards on 18 carries. Look for this kind of snap split to continue, with Thomas earning a larger role if the Dolphins ever get a lead. Next week's game against the Browns' is a good place to start.

Rookie Daniel Thomas broke out for 107 yards on 18 carries and 10 yards on one reception against the Texans in his Week 2 NFL debut. So much for that 70-30 split. Reggie Bush started but was quickly replaced by the hard-charging rookie, who provided a between-the-tackles presence that was desperately needed. For a big back who failed to impress as a power runner in training camp and preseason action, Thomas exceeded expectations immediately. He had 51 yards on his first 10 carries, pin-balling off Houston defenders to rack up yards after contact. Thomas needs to be picked up in any league where he remains available. He's a good bet to take the feature back job over the long haul, though it may not be official in Week 3 against the Browns.

Rookie RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring) is active for Week 2 against the Texans, as expected. Thomas isn't a good bet for more than 8-10 touches playing behind Reggie Bush. Dolphins inactives: WR Roberto Wallace, S Chris Clemons, FB/TE Charles Clay, LB Ikaiaka Alama-Francis, G/C Ryan Cook, DE Tony McDaniel, and TE Will Yeatman.

Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (probable, hamstring) practiced fully Friday and is expected to be available for Week 2. The Dolphins are targeting a 70:30 split between Reggie Bush and Thomas, with the latter getting the smaller share of the workload. That could change based on game flow, of course. Bush is a much better backfield option.

Daniel Thomas (hamstring) returned to Dolphins practice Wednesday. It feels a bit uncomfortable doing multiple daily updates on Thomas because he's such a non-factor, but it appears he's at least getting healthier. If he was a more physical back, he could be a candidate for 8-10 touches going forward.

Coach Tony Sparano conceded that Daniel Thomas (hamstring) "wasn't that close" to playing Monday night against the Pats. Thomas' status remains in doubt for this week's game against the Texans. It's a shame that the injury happened on top of a disappointing training camp. The Fins desperately need a player of Thomas' 6'0/230 stature to provide a power-running contrast to Reggie Bush.

Dolphins declared RB Daniel Thomas, FB Charles Clay, WR Marlon Moore, TE Will Yeatman, OT Ryan Cook, LB Ikaika Alama-Francis and DL Ryan Baker inactive for Monday's opener against the Patriots. Coming off a disappointing preseason, second-round pick Thomas isn't quite all the way back from a hamstring injury. That means Larry Johnson will serve as Reggie Bush's primary backup this evening. Lex Hilliard will be their lead blocker with Clay on the shelf.

Daniel Thomas (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 1. Thomas was able to practice each of the past two days, so the odds are looking good that he'll be able to make his NFL debut on Monday. With Reggie Bush set to serve as the Dolphins' approximation of a feature back, however, Thomas won't be worth starting in any format.

Daniel Thomas (hamstring) participated in Dolphins practice for the second straight day on Saturday. He's trending toward being active against the Patriots on Monday, though it's possible he'll end up being a game-time decision. Either way, Reggie Bush is the only Dolphins' running back worth starting this week.
