GM Jerry Reese confirmed the Giants will be looking for running backs in the draft and free agency.
David Wilson (neck surgery) is tentatively expected to be ready for training camp, but Reese won't be taking any chances. "Obviously, we can't put all our eggs in that basket," he said. The easiest move will be to re-sign in-house free agent Andre Brown, who won't cost a ton of money as a 27-year-old injury-prone back.

The Newark Star-Ledger puts impending free agent Andre Brown's chances of re-signing with the Giants at 75 percent.
Both Brown and the Giants have already expressed interest in striking up a new deal since the season came to a close. With David Wilson (neck) uncertain for the start of the 2014 season, the Giants are likely going to address the running back position in free agency and the draft. When healthy, Brown is capable of carrying a heavy load. He won't command much money.

Andre Brown rushed 13 times for 11 yards in Sunday's Week 17 win over the Redskins.
Brown lost a first-half fumble and was benched by hard-headed Tom Coughlin for roughly two quarters. It caps a disappointing end to a year that saw Brown break his leg in the preseason and battle back to start the final eight games. He did post two impressive 100-yard games, but finished with 139 carries for 492 yards (3.53 YPC) and three touchdowns to go with 20 catches for 103 yards. The entire Giants backfield is up in the air for 2014 as Brown is an unrestricted free agent and Wilson (neck) is struggling to get cleared. We suspect Brown means more to the Giants than he will to other teams on the open market.

Andre Brown (concussion) is listed as probable for Week 17.
Brown will start against the Redskins. The 27-year-old has plenty on the line, as Brown is scheduled for unrestricted free agency in the spring.

Andre Brown (concussion) resumed practicing Thursday.
It puts Brown on track to start Sunday's finale against the Redskins. Brown would be an RB2 against one of the league's softest defenses in a meaningless game.

Andre Brown has passed his concussion test.
Brown would have practiced on a limited basis if the Giants held a session on Wednesday. Barring a setback, he should be able to get fully cleared ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Redskins.

Andre Brown exited Sunday's game on a cart after losing a fumble in overtime against the Lions in Week 16, and is being evaluated for a concussion.
The Giants were left with seventh-round rookie Michael Cox and FB John Conner in the backfield. Brown finished with 40 yards on 16 carries and two catches for 14 yards. Unlike the last two weeks, the Giants kept this game competitive and/or had a lead, allowing Brown to rack up touches. Unfortunately, Detroit's talented front seven dominated the line of scrimmage, preventing Brown from ripping off many substantial gains. A la David Wilson early in the year, Brown was repeatedly hit in the backfield by defenders. He also lost the crucial overtime fumble. Brown's status for Week 17 against the Redskins is uncertain.

Andre Brown managed 17 yards on 11 carries and four catches for nine yards in the Giants' Week 15 loss to Seattle.
The Giants had no run game because they not only fell behind big early, but their "offense" relentlessly turned the football over. Eli Manning was picked off five times and benched for Curtis Painter late in the fourth quarter. So Brown owners have no one to blame but Eli for his dud of a Week 15 box score. The Giants get another rough run-game matchup in Week 16 against Detroit.
