Mattison carried the ball 26 times for 112 yards and caught six of eight targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 30-17 win over the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
With Dalvin Cook (ankle) sidelined, Mattison stepped into the lead role in the Minnesota backfield and put up a very Cook-like performance, proving to be effective as both a runner and receiver. The third-year back is more than capable of delivering big numbers when called upon, but his fantasy value will depend on Cook's health heading into a Week 4 clash with the Browns.

Mattison is starting in place of Dalvin Cook (ankle) on Sunday against the Seahawks, Eric Smith of the Vikings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook will sit at least one game due to the ankle sprain he picked up Week 2, allowing Mattison a spot start. When Cook went down with a groin injury Week 5 of last season in Seattle, Mattison put together the only 100-yard rushing performance of his career, totaling 112 yards on the ground and 24 more yards as a receiver. With just Ameer Abdullah and fullback C.J. Ham to contend with for touches, Mattison could be poised for another fruitful outing Sunday.

Mattison could have a big opportunity Sunday, as the Vikings are pessimistic about Dalvin Cook (questionable - ankle) suiting up for their game against the Seahawks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook is a game-day decision and could have a limited role even if he's active. Last year, Mattison had one dud (Week 6) and one huge performance (Week 17) in his two fill-in starts, and he should handle a large workload Sunday if Cook doesn't end up playing. Ameer Abdullah is the only other tailback on Minnesota's roster for Sunday's game, with the team opting not to call up preseason star A.J. Rose from the practice squad.

Mattison had three carries for 11 yards and one reception for 17 yards on his only target in Sunday's loss to Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played 13 snaps on offense, slightly up from nine snaps last week, but he had four touches compared to two last week. He'll have a minimal role as long as Dalvin Cook is healthy. However, Mattison's workload could increase Week 3 if the sprained ankle that Cook suffered Sunday limits his snaps.

Mattison had one carry for two yards and one reception for four yards in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played just nine snaps on offense as the Vikings used the running game sparingly when falling behind early. Mattison may get more involved if the Vikings are ahead and running the ball more often, but he won't get significant touches without a Dalvin Cook injury.

Mattison (ribs) practiced in full Wednesday, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison lasted just two offensive snaps for the Vikings in preseason Week 2 and has been sidelined from practice for most of the intervening period. Now that he's back on the field and uninhibited, though, he's set to serve as Dalvin Cook's primary reserve for a third straight season. In the previous two, Mattison averaged 8.4 touches for 42.4 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring four TDs in 26 appearances.

Mattison (undisclosed) is not practicing Wednesday, Dane Mizutani of the Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison has been sidelined with an undisclosed issue since Aug. 23, and the nature and severity of his injury remains undisclosed. With less than two weeks remaining before Sept. 12's season opener in Cincinnati, Mattison's status will warrant close monitoring. With Kene Nwangwu (knee) also not practicing, starter Dalvin Cook is currently the only healthy running back on the Vikings' roster.

Mattison (undisclosed) didn't practice Monday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison may have been injured in the Vikings' second preseason game, as he logged just two snaps and hasn't practiced since. He did watch Monday's practice from the sideline, whereas some of the players with more serious injuries weren't present at all. Assuming he makes it back on the practice field soon, Mattison is locked in as Minnesota's No. 2 back behind Dalvin Cook ahead of a Sept. 12 opener against Cincinnati. Last year, Mattison averaged 4.5 carries and 0.7 targets in the 10 full games he and Cook played together.

Mattison (undisclosed) rode a stationary bike on the side during Wednesday's practice, Eric Smith of the Vikings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison initially missed practice Monday and now seems unlikely to play in Friday's preseason game against the Chiefs. After that, he'll have 16 days to prepare for Minnesota's Sept. 12 opener against Cincinnati, gearing up for his familiar role as Dalvin Cook's backup. The Vikings did use a fourth-round pick on Kene Nwangwu this spring, but he's a raw prospect in the first place and has now been out since mid-August with a hyperextended knee. If Mattison is unexpectedly slow to recover from his current issue, the Vikings can turn to Ameer Abdullah, Ito Smith or A.J. Rose for Week 1 backup snaps.

Mattison did not practice Monday due to an undisclosed injury, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played just two plays in Saturday's preseason game, but no injury was reported after the game. With Kene Nwangwu (knee) and Mattison hurt, the Vikings signed Ito Smith on Monday to help with depth.
