Mattison carried the ball seven times for 28 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Lions. He added one reception for 16 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison settled into his typical change-of-pace role and had only four carries through three quarters. However, he served as the Vikings' lead back in the final quarter of the game after Dalvin Cook exited with a shoulder injury. Though Mattison didn't get a ton of volume, he made a large impact with a 16-yard reception and trip to the end zone from six yards away. Cook was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder after the game, so there is a chance that Mattison will get lead-back duties in a Week 4 matchup at New Orleans.

Mattison had two carries for eight yards and three receptions for six yards in Monday's loss at Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played on 19 of the offense's 61 snaps and wasn't involved much, which isn't surprising given the Vikings were facing a large deficit most of the game. It looks like Mattison will have the same role as prior years with a large workload if Dalvin Cook gets hurt, but a modest one if the latter is healthy.

Mattison had eight carries for 36 yards but no receptions in Sunday's win over Green Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played on 14 of the offense's 62 snaps, essentially giving starter Dalvin Cook rest on two series. Even with new head coach Kevin O'Connell, the workload split between Cook (48 snaps) and Mattison (14) remained about the same as last season. It looks like Mattison will have the same role as prior years with a large role if Cook is hurt, but a modest one if the latter is healthy.

Mattison (personal) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison was absent from practice Thursday due to a personal matter, but coach Kevin O'Connell told Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Friday that the Vikings expect the running back to be available for Week 1 action. With Dalvin Cook taking up the vast majority of RB reps for the team, Mattison can't expect more than a handful of touches in the season opener, barring an injury to the former.

Mattison didn't practice Thursday due to personal reasons.
EDGE Analysis
There's been no indication Mattison is in danger of not suiting up Sunday against the Packers, but Friday's practice report could be telling in that regard. Assuming he plays this weekend, he'll serve as the Vikings' primary backup to starting running back Dalvin Cook, which typically only equates to a handful of touches as long as the team's workhorse is healthy.

Mattison has been the subject of trade discussions with "at least 12" teams, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
EDGE Analysis
The 2019 third-round pick is in the final season of his rookie contract and doesn't plan to sign an extension with the Vikings. Mattison isn't likely to get more than 5-to-7 touches per game when the team has Dalvin Cook, who missed multiple contests in each of his first five seasons. Cook's shoulder is particularly vulnerable to re-injury after numerous sprains and dislocations, but he seems to be healthy heading into a Week 1 joust with the Packers.

Mattison recorded three carries for 17 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison was the starting back with Dalvin Cook (rest) out, though he didn't tally a carry after Minnesota's first offensive possession. He ripped off a 13-yard gain that pushed the Vikings deep into San Francisco territory, though the drive ended with a Kellen Mond interception. Mattison will continue to work as Cook's backup once the regular season kicks off.

Mattison started Sunday's preseason game against the Raiders in place of Dalvin Cook (rest), finishing with three carries for eight yards and no targets in the passing game.
EDGE Analysis
Cook was just being rested for the preseason game, so fantasy managers don't need to read too much into Mattison starting this contest. The fourth-year back has proven to be a reliable fantasy asset when asked to fill in for the oft-injured Cook in the past, but Mattison's role nearly vanishes when the Vikings' star is at full strength.

Mattison (finger) practiced Wednesday, Arif Hasan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison and Dalvin Cook (hand) both returned to the field after suffering minor injuries Tuesday. The pecking order in Minnesota's backfield appears to be the same as ever, though a new coaching staff could mix things up a little by giving Kene Nwangwu or Ty Chandler a few looks. Still, it's mostly the same deal for Mattison in the fourth and final year of his rookie contract, with his fantasy value largely tied to Cook's health.

Mattison appeared to injure a finger during Tuesday's practice and left early, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury appears minor, but it's worth monitoring during training camp. Mattison will reprise his role as the backup to starter Dalvin Cook. He's one of the better backups in the league as in four games as the primary running back last season with Cook sidelined, Mattison totaled 356 rushing yards, 162 receiving yards and three touchdowns. However, he had just 135 yards rushing in the 12 games where he served as the backup. It's possible new head coach Kevin O'Connell could look to give Cook more rest this year, but even then we wouldn't expect a significant increase in Mattison's touches when serving as the backup.
