Mattison had two carries for five yards and lost five yards on two receptions in Sunday's 20-16 loss to Dallas.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison played eight snaps on offense as he had a minimal role with Dalvin Cook fully healthy. Mattison eclipsed 100 rushing yards in both spot starts when Cook has sat out this season, so he's one of the more valuable backups in the league. However, Mattison likely will have minimal fantasy value most games when Cook is healthy.

Mattison had three carries for 10 yards in Sunday's win at Carolina.
EDGE Analysis
With Dalvin Cook back to full strength after missing the previous game with an ankle injury, Mattison moved back to a reserve role and played on just 12 of the offense's 89 snaps. Mattison eclipsed 100 rushing yards in both spot starts when Cook has sat out this season, so he's one of the more valuable backups in the league. However, he'll likely have minimal fantasy most games when Cook is healthy.

Mattison (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Panthers, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dalvin Cook (ankle) also has been cleared, so Mattison likely will be relegated to a backup role. Mattison has eclipsed 100 rushing yards in both spot starts when Cook has sat out this season. Given Mattison's effectiveness and Cook's fragile health, Minnesota may opt to give Mattison a more significant share of the workload than he previously had been receiving with both running backs healthy.

Mattison (shoulder) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
A shoulder issue is impacting Mattison's practice reps during Week 6 prep, keeping him out of Wednesday's session entirely before returning to the field one day later. While Mattison increased his activity level, Dalvin Cook (ankle) did the same, as he went from limited to full in the same time span. The development would appear to set Cook up to retain the No. 1 role out of the Vikings backfield, meaning Mattison would be his top reserve, at best, if he's able to suit up Sunday at Carolina.

Mattison (shoulder) returned to practice Thursday, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
After logging a DNP to begin Week 6 prep, Mattison seemed to be matching what Dalvin Cook (ankle), who was limited Wednesday, did one day later. If both end up with LP next to their names on Thursday's injury report, the Vikings could be trending toward a direction where it's the usual backfield Sunday at Carolina, with Cook as the No. 1 and Mattison on hand as his top backup. In any case, the activity level for Cook and Mattison will be known later Thursday.

Mattison was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder injury.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison has filled in admirably for Dalvin Cook (ankle) during recent absences in Weeks 3 and 5, racking up at least 150 yards from scrimmage on both occasions and recording a receiving touchdown in the latter contest. Now, Mattison seems to be less healthy than Cook, as he didn't do more than take part in stretching before heading indoors at the start of practice Wednesday, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com. As for Cook, he officially was limited to begin Week 6 prep, so this situation bears monitoring as the week goes on to get a bearing on who among the two will be available Sunday in Carolina.

Mattison rushed 25 times for 113 yards while hauling in seven passes for 40 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Mattison got another spot start in place of Dalvin Cook (ankle) and did his best impression of the star back. This was the second start the backup received this season, and he provided nearly an identical stat line against the Seahawks in Week 3. Cook's status for next week's tilt against the Panthers is unclear, but Mattison is proving to be a capable fantasy producer when called upon this year. That being said, Carolina provides a much tougher matchup compared to the two defenses Mattison ran all over in his two starts to date.

Mattison will be the Vikings' lead running back Sunday versus the Lions with Dalvin Cook (ankle) inactive, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This will mark Mattison's second spot start of the campaign in place of Cook. In Week 3, Mattison was a workhorse against the Seahawks, turning 26 carries into 112 yards and six catches (on eight targets) into 59 yards. He has a good matchup on tap in which to produce this time around, too, as Detroit's defense has given up 134.8 yards from scrimmage per game and nine total TDs to running backs in four contests this season.

Mattison rushed 10 times for 20 yards and didn't draw a target in the Vikings' 14-7 loss to the Browns on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Dalvin Cook was active and logged nine carries along with six targets, so he was more involved overall than Mattison. However, Mattison did pace the duo in rushing workload, a development that may well have been tied to Cook playing on an ankle that still wasn't 100 percent after only a one-week absence. Mattison could well return to his more customary complementary role in a Week 5 home matchup versus the Lions.

Mattison is expected to serve as the Vikings' No. 2 option out of the backfield Sunday against the Browns with Dalvin Cook (ankle) considered likely to play after missing Minnesota's Week 3 win over the Seahawks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook was a limited participant in practice throughout the week and remains listed as questionable for the contest, but he's expected to avoid the inactive list, which the Vikings will release 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming that's the case, Cook should take back starting duties for the Vikings, though he could handle a lighter workload than normal if Minnesota is keen on easing him back in from the ankle injury. With that in mind, Mattison doesn't look like a bankable fantasy option if Cook is active, even though the Boise State product is coming off an impressive Week 3 outing in which he finished with 112 yards on 26 carries and 59 yards on six receptions.
